So i love lotus clan, great servers, decent players, everything. Top notch. However i build a teleporter in tf2 and a guy got killed when he came out because a spy was there. He said i was griefing but i wasnt. Now i am banned please let me back in.

Steam And Source Coming To Mac

As some of you may have heard by now, Valve is porting Steam and their Source games to Mac.

This will probably mean lots of fun new bugs as they try to use a new (different) rendering engine while also trying to maintain cross platform compatibility.

On the bright side if they are truly bringing games like Counter-Strike: Source to Mac then I would assume these games will run on the same source engine. That engine will be Orangebox (LFD/2 excluded).
Perhaps this is the push that will force Valve's lazy asses to get their games on a single engine. Surely it wouldn't make sense to maintain and make 3+ forks of the same engine cross platform compatible?

But best of all, since MacOS is Unix based (a FreeBSD rip off) and usually runs on considerably shittier hardware, then perhaps the server software for their games will gain some improvement too. Especially if they try and make a MacOS X SRCDS. Perhaps we'll even get SSE2 (Introduced by Pentium 4) support on Linux and not just Windows or maybe even some other optimizations.

It's hard to say what it will be at this point, Valve is known to be extra lazy... But we'll see.

What do you guys think of this?

The [LFTH] clan has been frequenting the Goldrush #2 server lately in groups of 3 to 4 players until they get votebanned or the server clears out. They build teletraps, micspam, chatspam, and in general they are dicks to all players with a goal of making people leave. There are two demos below of Wes Mantooth and Drilldo . These two changed their names so they don't have the [LFTH] tag because the regulars start votebanning them as soon as they hit the server. The demos didn't capture some of the worst harassment but you can get the idea of what happens every time they join Lotus servers.

Hey folks. I've been completely distracted by the SWGemu project. For those who don't know the whole sad story with Star Wars Galaxies and their eventual fuck ups, I won't get into it. For those that do know, you probably enjoyed the game before the combat upgrade and quit once that whole mess occurred. I found this emulator project at www.swgemu.com a few months ago. They are into open testing right now, and it's about 80% there. So if you wanted to recapture some of the old SWG fun, you could register for a free account and likely be playing within a few hours.

Hey guys. I just wanted to write this to express how I was feeling about something in the servers. Firstly, I love Lotus and it's fanbase, but I just can't ignore how some of the server's mechanics are hurting gameplay. I write this purely as informative, I do not intend to flame the members of Lotus or Mana, but it needs to come out.

What I am talking about is the autobalance system in the Team Fortress servers. Firstly, I understand why it exists. It HAS to exist for teams to be balanced. The fact that it exists is not the issue here. The issue is how (probably intentionally) broken it is. Let me explain. Today I was playing with a friend on the blue team, we were getting our asses handed to us, but hey, at least we were having fun playing together. Then, of course, I get autobalanced. While mildly annoying (and though, I swear to god, it seems to happen to me more than anyone else... I know it doesn't) I shrug it off and wait for a spot on blue to open back up. Here's the kicker: eventually two spots on Blue open up, and I try to switch back, but the server WILL NOT LET ME. It kills me, then shoves me back to red with the insulting message "You have been autobalanced. Be a good little boy and stay there." So now, the game is intentionally keeping the game unbalanced, even while the players are trying to balance it. What?!

Here's what annoys me:

1. I am assuming it is kicking me to red because I was recently autobalanced. I understand why you would implement this, lotus, but when you think about this, it is counterintuitive to "fun", which is the entire point of this game. If I am trying to get to the other team, it is probably because I want to play with a friend. Think about it. If you are trying to keep one team from getting more powerful than the other, then you need to realize that you are stepping in where you shouldn't be stepping in. At the risk of sounding like a Team Fortress 2 libertarian, you need to butt out.

2. This is the only other reason I can come up with why you would prevent game balance: cash money. Donators receive (among other things obviously) immunity to autobalance. By harassing players with unnecessary autobalance, many players may get either fed up and pay $10 to not be heckled by a server mechanic, give up and play on the team you don't want to play on, or do as I did and leave the server after being unable to join the desired team after ten minutes of trying. If this really is a marketing decision, then it is a cheap, low-blow to your fanbase, and an overall abysmal business decision.

I used to donate to the servers monthly to receive protection from autobalance, and more importantly, support my favorite servers. I ended up stopping payment because I got short on money, and I have to say, I think I'm glad I did. Instead of making me want to pay money to alleviate this problem, I want to stop using these servers completely.

Either way, this is something that needs to be remedied, and I hope some of you may feel the same way. I would appreciate keeping any responses to this civil and constructive, as this is something that means a lot to me and many of you as well, I'm sure. That is the name he had at the end, he had edited his name to "[-VM-] NIGG4R HUNTER" or something to that extent during the game. Normally he plays under [LFTH] Candlejack

Today (Goldrush 1 24/7, 4:00-4:30PM EST) he was mic spamming with HLSS, building teleports on the first map backwards into the back hall on defense. He would also sit in spawn and charge ubers while mic spamming and use them on players in spawn, rarely leaving spawn. When he and his other clan mates first joined the server I warned them specifically about knocking it off otherwise I would put in this request. Interestingly enough the other player immediately left the game when I said that. Candlejack then switched to our team and went on to do what I previously stated.

Apparently these guys were previously asked to be banned. After reading the responses in there I don't know if anything can be done. So I apologize if this is just mute, but regardless these guys come onto the servers and make it rather unpleasant. I'm glad someone got a demo of them glitching the teleports though, cause that is pretty much the end of an entire game if you take the teleport as anything but a demo or soldier.

Suggestion For Voteban System

Since avoiding votebans on Lotus servers is SO ridiculously easy, I have a suggestion:

Save the SteamID of the person being votebanned in a variable in the vote plugin, then just ban that SteamID if the vote is successful, preventing them from returning.

I'm certain Lotus uses databases rather heavily (seeing as the Stats page takes 5+ minutes to load a single page, but of course, 10+ servers on HLstatsX tends to be slow)

This method proves effective on my server (well it did, up until it started getting DDoS'd, at which point I just had to shut it down)

Incident I will describe here, occured earlier today on Payload Stocks UK server.
I did not know about procedures to report such things until that happened, so I will only describe it and if you feel it is worth pursuing, you could keep a close eye on the reported player. I will use a simple altered screenshot of part of the map for demonstration.

We were playing badwater. I was a BLU spy, he was RED engineer. My team was still involved in a fight for the first point, while I slipped past REDs defence to check out the roof, because my team was not far from capturing the point. I saw one engie on top, just starting the set up. While I reached the roof, he had a dispenser set up by the middle block. I am not quite sure what else. I think a sentry on the edge looking down to second point and starting with the tele, but anyway it is irrelevant.

Now what happened. All the way from my base to the roof I was invisible. No uncloaking whatsoever. I have not bumped into anyone. No explosions of enemy fire near me. Nothing that could alert anyone of my presence.
On roof: Look at the picture. From our starting points (spy and engie on picture), I moved first (line 1) to my right in front of him. He stopped wrenching and changed to shootgun and turned towards me directly. I moved left and he moved on to the other side as well (line 2 and line 2). I moved back and stopped (line 3) he moved back as well (line 3) still facing me eye to eye. He was completely still like me for a second or two and then fired at me and killed me. Keep in mind that I was cloaked all this time. I did not uncloak at all. I have not bumped at him. I did not pick up anything. Psychic engie?

Constant Greifing

On the Goldrush1 and Goldrush2 servers, there has been a "clan" constantly 'greifing' while playing music through the game the entire time. They are either building teleports backwards, or building them and glitching out the maps so that you get stuck under bridges, get stuck at the bottom of stairs. It was just occurring on Goldrush1, the names of these players were [LFTH]CandleJack and [LFTH]Kerbstomp. There were others on the map with that clan tag, but they were more/less just stopping us from kicking or banning or muting the other two. I do not know if anything can be done about this, but its relatively annoying because they join both teams and screw both teams over quite often.

Can't Go Spectator Or Blue Team

Earlier today I started playing on Stock Maps #4, and, like usual, it crashed, came back, and then I joined the red team. Next map I couldn't leave red team. I couldn't join blue or spectator without being automatically auto balanced back to red. I rejoined the server, restarted steam and TF2, to no avail. This has happened to a few other people, and I assume it is to avoid team stacking, but I play on the Lotus servers to be with my friends and talk with them, not necessarily to win every game. I have fun with my friends more then playing a lot of the time. This upsets me quite a bit for I've been playing on the Lotus servers for a long time now, and I'd like to be able to join whatever team my friends are on without being forced on a team for multiple maps.

I've been on the red team for the past 5 maps, without being able to change team.

Any fixes or something would help. I'd like to be on my friends team.
