Trees are irritating sometimes in times of fight but good for trying a sneak attack and mountains are only good for designing. Will you put many or less of the trees and/or mountains?

Mountains are not good only for designing. Actualy theyr verrry important, dudes that are on mountains have advantage, more resistance and dmg and dudes that are on lower ground do on dudes on higher less dmg. Sometimes its allabout whos on the top. Forests are good as you sayd for ambushes, but mountaqins are also good for ambushes. If you are a good player you wont let the ground to be against you. Maps are all about advantage and disadvantage. Next thing is the strategy and tactics that will give you the advantage and to the opponent disadvantage. Thats all. You crush your opponents army in a destructive ambush in which you have minnor losses, at that time you have a big advantage and your opponent a big disadvantage. Havent you notice that in the end one player is always at total disadvantage?
