Need Help With Ding-A-Ling Sound

Recommended Posts

I've been trying to use the ding-a-ling sound option but can't get it to work all the time. When I start up TF2, I create a server and quick shoot a bot. Then I hop on a Lotus server and it works fine until a map change. I think there's got be an easier way of doing this...is there a console command or something I can enable every time a map loads or what?

put this in your Steam\steamapps\<username>\team fortress 2\tf\cfg\autoexec.cfg file

// high pitch when low dmg, low thunk when high damage
tf_dingalingaling "1"
tf_dingaling_pitchmaxdmg "45"
tf_dingaling_pitchmindmg "135"

yeah, I have that in my autoexex.cfg but still doesn't work. I guess I should of mentioned that its a custom sound too, I don't know if that matters much.

ah... that's probably why it's not working. all lotus servers have some sort of sv_pure setting that blocks custom stuff.

Krash, it's that sound that you hear when you hit someone

it works fine as long as you only use the default ding sound

if you try to use a custom one it wont work with sv_pure

blame valve

does this mean what I think it means?!

Custom hitsounds:

Must now be specified by replacing the 'tf/sound/ui/hitsound.wav' file.

Can now be used under sv_pure 1/2.

Lemon, let us know if you get this to work. Mine are broken on Lotus too. They work for a while, then all hit sounds stop. Didn't realize it was the map change that killed it.

Any reason why Lotus doesn't allow custom weapon models and hit sounds like, for example, the SouceOP servers?

Aye, it's because of how people push that shit to the limits in unfair ways, turning up footstep sounds all loud 'n other heinous actions.
