+JB. 4,800 #1 Posted November 23, 2015 A friend of mine asked me to help him put together a new pc. He got a budget of around 800€. I don't know a whole lot about this stuff myself, but I know some of you do, so I thought someone may be able to help out. If there is anything you need to know, post here, I'll ask him and post back with an answer. Thanks

- Mike - 2,728 #4 Posted November 23, 2015 What will your friend be doing on the computer? Also, reddit has a nice set of subreddits for building computers or finding the right parts. I think it's reddit.com/r/buildmeapc or something like that. Also PCPartPicker has, or had, (have used them in a while) a compatibility feature to make sure the parts will fit and work with the build.

Hellfire 421 #6 Posted November 23, 2015 I love this stuff and can help out. If not the pcmasterrace subreddit will build a pc for you if you give them a budget and tell them what games your friend is into.

Hellfire 421 #8 Posted November 24, 2015 Here is a good build to start off with: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/ppr2P6 It's a little over budget with the hard drives selected but you can pick one or the other or keep both. It includes a 250gb SSD or 1TB HD. That graphics card gets a lot of praise and it can run most games on very high settings at 50-60 FPS. Here is a good video to compare with GTA V on very high Settings: His RAM and processor in the video is a little bit better but it doesn't affect FPS that much. +JB. 4,800 #9 Posted November 24, 2015 Yeah depends what he is going to be doing/playing He mainly wants to play with it. Games like skyrim, borderlands etc.
koKo_ 350 #10 Posted November 24, 2015 Well if he's going for some higher end games, I wouldn't cheap out on both the core and the GPU
fever 9,884 #11 Posted November 24, 2015 (edited) He should be able to build a very nice machine then if he's not going for brand spanking new AAA titles. He'll easily build a decent base unit for that money that should be able to max out those games. This is what that money got me in June 2012 (no operating system though as I was putting my own on): EZCool Black ATX Case 600W CIT Power Supply MSI Z77A-G43 Board Intel Core i7 2600K Processor 8GB Mushkin Blackline RAM 240GB Agility 3 SSD MSI Geforce GTX 560ti OC (Dual DVI) Graphics Card DVD +/- RW Drive 1 Hour Labour Total: £872.00 This is still my main games/software development machine and I was so happy with it I bought a second. Even in this original configuration it ran most games on pretty much full fat everything. Just upgraded the RAM to 16 shortly after and added a newer graphics card recently.
