Can't Connect At All

I tried playing with my friends in Canada (im in LA) and i can't connect with them at all

We tried Game ranger, but when the game loads, i just get sent to the main menu. I can see the room in the LAN option, but when i try to join it just takes me to the menu again

We tried hamachi with direct ip, when i try to join, it says the game doesn't exist in that adress

We tried gamespy, that didn't work. I could see their rooms, they couldn't see mine

They can play fine with each other, even on gamespy. I tried joining a stranger's game in gamespy, but it just showed a countdown from 9 to 1 and said "unable to connect" or something

open the ports 7174, 7175 and 7177 in your firewall / router. this makes you able to play on gamespy, cause they'll see your game then.

but it is sorta strange that you guys cant play on gameranger. have either of you tried to host yet? if someone's italic like this people usually can the server but not the game. rebooting gameranger sometimes helps

They hosted the games in GR, it didn't work. I was able to enter the room and boot the game fine, but it's after that that it doesn't work. I just checked it, it's not italic

I'm pretty sure it's just my computer or connection, I can't join any game

Now I'm trying to play with my brother over our LAN connection, and his works fine, but I keep on freezing after a few seconds. I can still navigate the map and select units, i just can't move them
