The One Server Lotus Is Missing

It would be nice if Lotus added a Custom map/custom skin server. Is there a reason why we don't have one? It would be nice to just mix it up once in a while with some fun new maps. I'm sure they would be populated, seeing how Lotus has a pretty good fallowing. Eh would even *donate* a little more to see it happen....Just a thought, what do you think?

I'd like to put up a vote on this... It would be awesome. Although, and do correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't a custom server make more wall hackers? Maybe I'm wrong, but that might be the reason Mana doesn't have one. Although if we did have one, I would go to that one a lot!

Nah, it wouldn't allow hackers in any way shape or form. You still have sv_pure on so that they have to have the same files you do on the server, and you can download the files from the server. We sorta tossed the idea around a while ago, but we couldn't really agree on what we'd put on it, who'd pay for it, etc. The little details pile up. Talk to Mana if you're really, really interested in helping set one up.

I still want a Custom map server; it's not like everyone isn't already tired of every stock map in the game. It's silly how much you miss out on by limiting yourself to stock maps only (some of which aren't even very good).

And they don't have to be ridiculously custom like Mario Kart or something, but just some good maps that are nicely balanced. I remember a map in the mountains or something and it was playload... forgot what it was called but I thought it was fun.

I don't think anyone here was even thinking about Mario Kart. I think anyone who did would be immediately shot down by a number of people.

I would like to see some good custom maps though, there are some good ones out there.

I remember... I think it was convoy? it was essentially two trains or giant tanks or something, going at high speed on the map, and if you fell off you died, and there was weird gravity between the tanks, making you have to use the various bridges and shit.

Did anyone play a map where there was a large tank that was neutral and both sides pushed it tug-o-war style? That's a fun map too.

Most maps with pugs end up like that, although at least lotus servers tend to have competent players who don't just play sniper all day and suck at it.

All the orange maps are terrible. Convoy is fun but suffers performance issues. Black Mesa is too big (People have a hard enough time with Steel). Please... not Toy Fort. For the love of Henry Spencer, not Toy Fort!

Admittedly I haven't played any of these in, geez, at least a year? Maybe they've been improved. Except Black Mesa and Toy Fort.

Yeah, the Orange maps are so bad. Way too much open space on most of them.

Id contribute to this server if it had a good rotation. Only the well finished maps though i think. HATE playing on maps with orange walls and gray floors.

If it would bring my beloved ctf_aerospace back into mainstream rotation, happy times.
