Apparently now that Macs have gotten access to recent games (read: Source Engine) they have finally started questioning why their uber-expensive rigs perform worse than way cheaper PC's.

Now that Valve has a vested interest in Mac users happiness they threatened to pull the plug on Steam unless Apple stopped sucking at coding and rewrote their graphics drivers. Interesting read:

Just because you spend 2K on a system with shitty hardware & Apple logo doesn't mean you will be able to run a 3 year old game.

Ugh, I had a better video card 3 years ago.. Not to mention my current laptop which cost less than $2K (and can also run OSX) has an AMD 5870 which can run TF2 on highest settings.

Agreed, my old PC was running a single core Athlon 64, Geforce 7800 GS, and 4 gb DDR1 Ram and I could max out everything except FSAA at 1920x1200 and still get 30-40 FPS.

When I can do that on a 5 year old rig and modern MacBook Pro can't and in some cases the desktop versions can't, it is either obscenely shitty hardware or programming, probably both.

I just dont understand the point of Macs. I'm no extreme fanboy of windows, but for my purposes (and price) i got a great rig for about $1000 a year or two ago that can rock current Macs.

Core 2 Quad @ 2.5, 4 gb Ram, Geforce 9800 GT, all games max or close to. I'm not complaining.

I hope you're trying to be ironic. Cali's kind of a mixed bag when it comes to computer users, but we're still a primarily PC state. Knowing plenty of hipster fags out here, I can tell you this, they don't play video games. Hipsters tend to hang out at clubs or fancy restaurants, and they sit on their iphones or ipads all day. Not gaming, but get this, reading. That's right. They spend hundreds of dollars on a mobile device so that they can read on it in public.
