Suggestion: Tf2 Dustbowl Servers

Alright, First off.. I loooove the Dustbowl servers. But I have a love hate relationship with the respawn times, I think they are perfect when the server is near full or even two thirds full. But at night around 1AM PST the server seems to slow down, and thats when the problems start to come in a 5v5 with a 20 second respawn, its nearly impossible to play and it just makes people leave which saddens me since i like to play to the wee hours of the night.

So to get what i finally want to suggest, What about a plugin that does sliding scale respawn times. When the server is nearly full have the full 20 second respawn time but when there is like a 5v5 going on, Maybe a 10 second respawn time?

Not sure really, I'd imagine it'd need to be played with but 10 seconds seems like a good number for an odd reason. Because i know with 20 seconds, they can wipe out your team cap the first point and be on the second point before your even able to respawn. And im not talking a scout i can do it as a heavy.

All of our servers (except one) have default respawn. I don't really wanna change it on any of them.

I have to admit I was asking about this just last night while on Dustbowl East. For some reason it started to slow down a bit and for awhile it seemed that Blue would pretty much always win when it got down to the 8v8 or 9v9. And I asked if this plug-in was possible. The auto balancer was going nuts too. I literally played 4-5 rounds as nothing but blue and then like 3 straight rounds as red because I kept getting switched. Both the auto balancer and people were vote scrambling the hell out of the server last night since one side would always win people whined that teams were stacked and I tried to explain to them that it was because of the lengthy respawn timer. For example second stage, the majority of the team gets taken out and blue caps, by the time red respawns blue is already right there at the next point, no time to build up defense or anything.

I dunno maybe if its 8v8... 9v9 or less (whatever you think is a good number) have the respawn times as blue 5 sec, red 10 sec. This would at least give red a better chance at defending the second cap when the teams are small.

Now if you want to leave it alone then whatever, not my server. But like I said it can sometimes get to the point where the auto balancer goes crazy and/or people call for a vote scramble every other round too. So as a player I would suggest at least taking a deeper look into the situation if your looking to improve the server quality. But again if you dont want to bother with it thats your call, cant force ya to do anything.

What you can do, to keep the fairness and still lower respawns, is make blu have instant respawn (Which is typically about 3/5 seconds) and reduce red's to about 15 seconds. This way, both teams get a reduction in wait time but the balance is retained because the timers are both lowered by about the same amount. I can't really comment on the lower player numbers other than to say that offense is going to win the majority of the time due to the longer timers, but I typically leave when the servers die down.
