How To Mute Player Text In-Game Without Muting Everyone?

Is there a server-side command to mute text and voice in-game?

I recall hearing someone say the game-side "mute" function doesn't actually mute text, just voice

(sm_gag *target*) in console. This was all I could find and most likely it wont work. The vote mute might mute both text and voice but the client side is just voice.

If you hit ESC, click the ear, then the persons name, it mutes both text and voice.

I've tested this many times, ironically on the thread creator as well. For some reason Tf2 wiki says it does not mute the in-game text (which would explain why everyone asks this question), but if you test it yourself you will find it is simply not true. Simple to test, get a buddy list person to steam message you, join the same game and mute him via the main options.

this is how i have begun to play on the lotus east coast server.. personally i wish i didnt have to.. but between the constant nit picky harassment and votekick/votebans i find it necessary.. just too keep my gaming time positive... otherwise watching people shit all over each other kinda bums me out..
