Bots? In Lotus Clan Servers?

not trying to troll, but i am getting trolled with all the bots in the lotus clan servers. really, i go to the ctf_2fort and pl_badwater when servers are empty, and its filled with bots! wtf? bots!? really!? as if 4v4 are not fun? and i cant enjoy a small amount of people game since its always has bots that get in the way. in my opinion i would not have a single bot. even when the server has 16 people, there are still bots!!! i wish i could go on tf2 right now and go into one of your servers that has 8 people, NOT BOTS! and have a nice 5v4. really sick of the bots, and lotus has a lot of servers. having bots is like having spawn protect or rtd or any of those lame mods. bots = no fun. making this thread in hopes the bots will be gone or at least have some servers that have 0 bots. sick of the damn bots.

yes they are bots. they get stuck at the gates, some turn around right as you uncloak as a spy, they have the same name in every server, they don't have steam id, they don't have an icon. inb4, nope they are not bots. yes they are bots! i know what bots are.

From what I've seen, the bots usually dissapear when the server has 8+ people on it, which I think is a good system. It is a bit annoying when it gets down to about 6 people because there can be 4 real players on one team and 2 bots on the other with 2 real people, but otherwise I think the bots do help keep the server interesting when there are very few people on.

8 people as in 4v4? nope. to me, bots don't keep the server interesting. the one way i would like bots is if it was 1 bot limit per team and bot was always a medic, since medic bots tend to be better then most medics i see. but still when i join a lotus server at night when people are not on, i hate to see bots, i just look for another server. well if most people enjoy playing with bots then nothing i can do about that. i hate having to kill bots and it takes away the opportunity of enjoying a small game of 6v6 which can be so fun the servers end up filling up fast. i just hate bots. i really think bots should be taken out or just have 1 medic bot on each team. like right now i wanna play on one of the lotus pl_badwater but there are like 2 non bots on each team with another 6 bots on each team. i hate tabing to check score and seeing 12bots/16 players. lotus is not the only server that has bots. gosh, i really enjoy games much better without bots.

Of course they're bots. Personally, I don't care too much as when it fills up they drop, but other than that an Engy/Medic bot are sometimes more competent than their human counterparts.

Bots are on the server when there's less than 16 steam id connected players. They take names of real players from the server. Bots also have the beach balls above their heads and do random taunts if they kill someone (that's funny cause then they're easier to kill). Also, bots DO show a ping and sometimes they show up as "BOT". <-- I'm not sure if this is a plug-in setting or what. Another thing too, USUALLY, the bots don't have a picture/avatar next to their names in the scoreboard. I've found that the only time they DO have a picture is when they are one of your friends. Example: Krash and podsaurus are both on my friends list and those 2 were bot names on the server last night. So in the scoreboard, their avatar shows up and also the friend logo too. The bots automatically leave and join a side according to the number of human players on the server and on each team. The bots also help keep the players count up from zero. I know it's a bit of a lie, but it's better to Lotus servers on the server list with people playing, even if it's a lie, rather than at zero. Last night on stocks 3, there was 1 human player and I joined. A few of my friends came in and shortly thereafter, all the bots were gone and it was 8v8 or so. It just depends on the time of the day and the map. Eventually a few bots popped in, but it WAS 1:30am....lol

On a related funny thing, I saw and played with and against the REAL phantom last night lol! So yes, he does exist (he actually typed in the chat), because the bot phantom also was on the server at one point, was kinda funny.

Do the bots team stack or just join teams at random?

They have been around for quite a while now (first Brutus, now clones) and they are not going away.

i really think you should reconsider. i ain't the only one that asks to take bots out. these bots are no good, especially in pl_badwater servers. they get stuck at the gates and ruin the chance of having a normal small 4v4 game, just so bad. i hope you change your mind sooner or later, i hope people start to complain about these bots so maybe something is done about them. i didn't see this many bots on servers 1 year ago, and now that servers are filled with bots at night it has really killed the fun. at least make some servers not have bots and other that do, or maybe just lower the amount of bots. ideally i say no bots. on small servers i don't see people complain about wanting bots on, but on servers with bots i see people complain asking to take the bots out.

The bots make the server appear active even in game. Believe it or not, because of their pings and names a lot of people can't figure out they're bots. I think the only thing he'd entertain changing would be the point at which all bots drop. But I'm not putting words into his mouth or anything.

The TF2 beta got some bot improvements. They can actually play payload maps now.

So that's coming next.

On Stocks3 badwater Blu (spawn 2), the bots were stuck in spawn most of the time, one was engie, running against the wall holding a box to build something and the other was a soldier I think. Somehow the solider eventually made it out of spawn and actually capped the second point lol!!!

In my long experience with css/tf2 bots KILL servers because they are not fun to play with in the slightest. People leave when they join a server with bots. I would rather join an empty server.. waiting for people to join, minding my own business instead of having my entire team just get stuck on a door.

The bots don't stay on the server, they drop as humans join. They are there to help seed, basically.
