Bombz 31 #1 Posted May 28, 2011 Server has had some really bad lag lately. Never really had these problems before on Lotus servers, not the Dustbowl one anyway. I'm not sure if it's related to replay or not but it's really bad. A lot of others were complaining about it too. Time I was playing was about 11PM EST time, 5/27/11 EDIT: Maybe it is really replay related. Dustbowl East doesn't seem to get this lag and there is no replay. aoCazzo 0 #2 Posted May 28, 2011 I've been noticing this too. The lag has been really bad the last week or so. It's more of a packet loss type lag, ping is stable for me. edit: it should also be noted that while regular game play is stuttery with occasional teleporting and other issues, intermittently (maybe every 20 minutes) I'll get the red "lost connection to server" text in the top right and have a crippling loss of connection for about 5 seconds. wardkoopa 0 #3 Posted May 29, 2011 Cazzo got it right. Ping are stable but we seem to have a lot of packet lost. Similar to what we will get with a poor wireless connection. My guess is that it come from the replay feature since every server that enable it seem to be plague with this kind of lag.

I play on the Chicago Arena Server and we've been experiencing terrible lag as well. It feels as though you're swimming in a sea of Spies, every two seconds you get bumped back. Bombz 31 #7 Posted May 30, 2011 Noticed replay was stealthily disabled. Server seems to be running quite a bit better now, too.
aoCazzo 0 #8 Posted May 30, 2011 yeah, things were running much more smoothly last night.
NeoDaReaper 3 #9 Posted May 30, 2011 Noticed replay was stealthily disabled. Server seems to be running quite a bit better now, too. I was initially all for replays until I saw how they affected 32 person server stability. I really hope they get disabled on the Chicago Arena Server, it's nearly unplayable at peak hours. Prior to the server filling up there is absolutely no lag, but once it fills up everything is sluggish.

I learned a trick from Afronanny though, you can votekick the spectator replay bot (Usually the player with a regular name who just sits in spec) and then replays will become disabled. I'll have to try that. If replays are to blame, I hope they get removed. My friend and I can hardly move when the server nears full capacity, and once it does, it is impossible to enjoy the game.
