Bense 0 #1 Posted July 22, 2011 To start off, I'd like to apologize to anyone on the TF2 Lotus server today that I may have angered. It wasn't my intention to start a flame war in the server, and that's just what I may have done. Now that this is out of the way, I would like to speak to those specifically in charge of these servers. I understand donation is a large portion (if not all) of how you continue to run the servers. However, auto-balance has no affect on this at all. From my understanding, if I were to donate to Lotus, I would never be autobalanced. We were just playing a map (screen attached) where the teams were incredibly unbalanced. To the point where one team kept leaving. We tried to initiate auto-balance, which prompty moved only one of the top players to our team. He quickly moved back to his original team only moments later. I get that I can play else where, and I don't have to start a fight. You have to understand this is a legitimate concern for people in control of these servers, as it reflects extremely poorly on the community as a whole. After one attempt to auto-balance the teams, we were called pussies for trying. After it failed and we (more specifically I) started to get fed up. I for one enjoy a challenge in TF2, and I enjoy the Lotus servers. I, however, do not enjoy a bunch of "donators" stuck on the same team refusing to budge so they can continually rape the opposing team only to watch them join the server and leave after 5 minutes. What kind of way is this to promote the community? After calling people out and getting angry (maybe not warranted), I was vote kicked. I joined the server again where I continued to ask them what the problem was. Again I want to re-iterate that I was in the wrong, and I understand this. My goal here is to create a discussion on this very subject of auto-balancing and donations, because I do not believe they can co-exist if the donators are only taking advantage of it. DrkEagle 15 #2 Posted July 22, 2011 Well let's see. There's a Lotus admin (not donator) there, phantom who is highly ranked (#1 but thats not all him) and a few others. I don't play on stocks 2 (aka STACKS 2 as its known to the regulars) cause I'm in Cali and the lag is too much but Lotus does have more central servers. To be honest, I change my team too to play with my friends even if they get auto switched (I'm a donator). Balance in TF2 will always be a issue but don't get mad when people want to play with their friends. My old DoD:S community, we had big issues with this. It got to the point of it being pub vs us on a Ventrilo server. There will always be a team balance problem in TF2 and it will never be solved. You just have to deal with it. DrkEagle 15 #4 Posted July 22, 2011 Yeah, that server is. You might be better off on some other Lotus servers if it bothers you a lot. I'm sure it doesn't happen all the time and to be honest, you'll probably run into it again eventually no matter if it's Lotus or not. If you happen to join a server on a Fri/Sat night and see it happening, don't be scurrr'd. We do it sometimes on Stocks 3, a |GDD| \ Stock 3 reg stacks sometimes. I would just like some help to go along with it... You should check that server's gametype. While all of our servers have "Team Fortress" this one has "Stack Fortress". The server is advertising Stacking as its main feature. Also, votescramble can scramble even donors and donors can only force change their team once every 25 mins.
