The Truth Sometimes Hurts

Recommended Posts

I joined a lotus clan game in progress, looking at the numbers it was obvious the defense was being thrashed.

I happened to join right before the end, got a couple kills, but since most of the team (on defense) was scouts,

spies, and snipers, and there was no medic, we lost. I posted a message in chat that said something like "SO,

the lesson here is that too many light classes on defense and no medics = usually a loss". The next round

began, also on defense, and one more person actually changed to a light class. On the voice chat, I mentioned

that we were probably going to lose quickly since we didint have enough firepower. I wasnt singling anyone out,

I wasn't yelling, I merely pointed out the obvious. Unfortunately there are many players that want to blame anything

but their character choice for a loss. A young kid, sounded like he was about 13 or so, said that the lesson to be

learned was not to have "Down's syndrome", I wasnt quite sure what he meant. He continued on to say that I was

being a downer by posting my message in chat, and then when we began a new game, making the calm observation

that we were going to lose if we didnt have some light classes go heavier. I was shocked when the little kid tried to

initiate a vote kick because I was " a downer". Here are a few observations to help some of our newer players adjust:

1) The truth sometimes hurts.

2) TF2 is a great game. Teams are constantly changing. Anyone who doesnt want to adapt to different maps, different

skillsets, and different opposing teams is usually not going to be an asset to his team.

3). Trying to votekick someone who (again, calmly and rationally) points out an issue with a team layout, is the worst

kind of denial there is. Of course it turns out that the individual who wanted to votekick me was a spy with zero points.

4) If someone wants to play TF2 but doesnt care if they win or lose, there's a great training option available. The

majority of players naturally prefer winning over losing, so they TRY To win. My favorite class is a soldier, but I frequently

switch to medic, heavy, demo, sniper or occasionally scout if necessary. I RARELY do spy because I'm more of a liability

than an asset in the spy category, which I freely admit.

I personally don't know what you want us to do here? I also think this is rather one sided :P (of course it is, I'm just poking fun at the bias)

I said this before on some similar thread, but I'll go ahead and repeat. I don't care if I win or lose ( and I say "I" because I see TF2 more like me fortress 2) the only thing I care about is killing the most of the opposite team players as I can. Thus I will almost never give priority to capturing a flag/point or push the cart over killing people. Yet I play TF2 on a daily basis and no one ever complained that I should switch class or play differently.

P. S. I'm only in it for the frags

Fragged and shagged baby?

I hate to point out the obvious, but what's the name of the game? TEAM Fortress.

He was probably playing with bots anyway.

Also, I'm sure you are thinking of cooperative castle. This is, as mentioned above, Me Fortress 2.
