i played some guy today, he was good but he turtled alot

after several attempts to destroy him, i decided on a very effective tactic.

i summoned the necro, and put him in an inconspicous postion, and kept on summoning spirit warriors in groups of 3. thus, i regularly sent them into his base to keep him busy.

then i made an attack force of bandits, 1 ronin, 2 muskets with snipe, shinja, vetkin and utara. i had 4 raiders on standby.

*the problem with my earlier attacks is that eventually i got owned by his watchtowers which were stragetically placed, fucking cannoneers did nothing nuttin to neutralise this*

so, i sent 3 spirits into his base, then i sent in my main attack force to kill his warriors, using shinja and utara's bg's simultaneously. now the raiders came in. the watchtowers were rubble in seconds. i could now happliy destroy the base.

i sent in 3 more spirits for good measure.

to conclude, if used correctly, raiders are devastating. never use cannoneers when going against buildings, they take too long.

if i sent the raiders in first, they would have got ripped apart by the defending warriors. so i sent in my attack force to deal with the defenders, while they were dealing, i sent in the raiders to burn down the towers. i wasted no time.

so that was the smart thing to do.

Hmm..I would've distracted them by sending spirits from the back into the end corner of their base, once their army moves, I wouldve sent the raiders to quickly burn and run; and come back for another trip and run throughout the town burning.

Using Musketeers to bomb the rice patch isn't a bad idea if you're in the enemy base and their army hasn't arrived yet. However, the running speed of raiders allows them to do more of a hit and run. Putting caltrops in the rice patch isn't a bad idea either.

Enemies will usually keep their peasants out of the patch until they can slowly blow them all up, killing their resource gain! However, the smart counter would be to get a geisha and a peasant to soak up the caltrops.

I didnt read the whole thread but, Raiders are great early game. Get 5-6 of them and back door into someones camp and burn the hell out of their town. People will be so involved trying to put the fires out to save their asses that you could build an army and rape them.

get the caltrops with half of them and then the other half get the rice burning thing, when you are done burning the buildings go to the rice patch hit the battle gears and burn the rice out and lay caltrops to kill the peons collecting rice. It will set them back a lot and give you time to mass an army and kill them. Even drop a few caltrops by the peons gathering water.

Yes caltrops with a mixture of mines was a pretty famous ambushing technique some years back.

Raiders fire damage may not look effective at first, but it is the most effective fire on the long run, because it is so hard to put out.

yeah exactly, when ya get the fire damage upgrade, its what 1 yang?its early game and you can afford to spend the one yang on it. and if you can throw 3 torches on a building and catch it on fire it distracts them. They arent abuse as you put it, they are a totally legal strat. Its nothing more then using them to rape and run. People will whine saying its abuse because not many peoiple use them that way. Actually besides me and raider ive never seen anyone use them.

They are only good at burning job no other. For fighting they sux and that.

But they kill necro really bad.
