Ripped 0 #1 Posted October 16, 2013 (edited) I'm experiencing some terrible stutter in TF2. I thought the problem was with my old computer but I recently built a new one and the problem remains. The stutter doesn't happen when I join an empty Lotus server but when I join a Lotus server that has anyone playing in it the problem returns.- If I circle strafe an object, player or wall you can see everything jitter and shake back and forth.- The stutter doesn't happen if I just stand still and look around(not touching the keyboard at all).- This happens with default or tweaked network settings.- There is no choke or packet loss or gaps in the network graph. The only thing that compeltely fixes this problem in a full server is when the server restarts while I'm playing. After the server restarts everything is 100% smooth. If I connect to that same server the next day it's back to stuttering. This isn't my video but it's pretty much exactly what I see except it's worse for me. Please help? (ps, I just couldn't find the login for my other account (Rip), I'm not trying to spam accounts or pretend to be anyone else) Edited October 16, 2013 by Ripped
Ultimate 702 #2 Posted October 16, 2013 So it's not just players? Static objects will stutter?
Ripped 0 #3 Posted October 16, 2013 (edited) So it's not just players? Static objects will stutter? Correct. Supply cabinets, corners of buildings, everything, but only if I'm moving my character around with the keyboard. If I'm standing still spinning my mouse and looking around everything is smooth. Ultimate 702 #4 Posted October 16, 2013 First, is it just with Lotus? Second, does the new computer use any of the old hardware?
Ripped 0 #5 Posted October 16, 2013 First, is it just with Lotus? Second, does the new computer use any of the old hardware? My choices for servers under 100 ping are severely limited. The only non furry/saxton hale/idle nonsense servers are lotus and skial but I have always had connection problems to skial for some reason. No, every single piece of hardware is new except for the monitor, keyboard and mouse. Even the drivers are different because the new PC has an AMD card while the old one had Nvidia. Ultimate 702 #6 Posted October 16, 2013 If you're under new hardware and with a clean install it's doing the same thing, AND it happens on all server networks it might just be a connection issue in the end. But maybe someone with more knowledge of tf2 servers could chime in?
Kitten 1,813 #7 Posted October 16, 2013 Maybe try either disabling VSync or switching to fullscreen mode.
Ripped 0 #8 Posted October 16, 2013 Maybe try either disabling VSync or switching to fullscreen mode. Vsync isn't enabled and the game is already in full screen mode. Last night at around 1 am pacific the 24/7 harvest west coast server wasn't stuttering and it didn't reboot while I was playing. Maybe it rebooted right before 1am? Do you know when the server is set to reboot?

Do you know when the server is set to reboot? Servers reboot often. Only exception is if a server is full nonstop. But everyone would stutter then if it's caused by extreme uptime.
