Respawn Time

Please guys i think you should put less time for respawn cause wait for 18 seconds its a long time, specialy if you are an engeneer, and just sux loose a Turret or dispenser cause you are dead and cant get back to fix it.

And even for any other classes its just a pain to wait so long to get back in action.

You guys could put like 5 or 10 seconds TOPS.

Thanks for the server and keep up the very good job.

I think it could be interesting to try 10 second respawn for a few days and see how it goes. I don't like instant respawn (their is no strategy in those servers) but I'm starting to wonder if 15 seconds isn't a little too much.

Not dying should be one of your top priorities. If you die, your turrets should die, your sticky bombs, whatever, if the opportunity arises. If not, then there is no war of attrition, which I think is needed considering how many stand-offs occur already on the server (largely due to lack of organizational ability).

I think the respawn time is justified. It's already bad enough when I destroy a turret, run in to get the briefcase, and then run out and another turret is already built. Learn to position your turrets correctly so that they have optimal sight range, and put them in spots that are hard to destroy. They are both numerous and fairly easily accessible. And trust me, as much as it pains me to die and then have my turret killed off as an engineer, I know it's A) my fault for dying and B) their just duty to destroy it while I'm dead or not there.

Keep it like it is, the server stale-mates too often as it is, and would become even more amplified in that behavior if you allowed lower respawn times. Eat a snack, drink your coke, whatever, while you're waiting to respawn, or stop dying so much.

I was actually thinking along the lines you just mentioned Draco, but in a different direction...

One of the reasons their are so many stalemates is actually because of the 15-20 second respond time and I agree it's due to lack of organization and team work, I've noticed that when Lotus team mates start playing together their is barelly a defense that can prevent us from gaining the intel and i have 2 things to note on that;

1) By reducing the respawn time we give the non-organized team to stand a chance to stop us from gaining the intel making us work all that much harder, which I for one enjoy the chalenge of.

2) When I am playing on a full server with no one working together as a team and I go and get the intel, bring it up the spiral (for example) and die there, I'll mention it to my team mates but more often then not they don't react to it, more worried about their kill ratio then actually gaining the intel. So by reducing the respawn time you are allowing me to actually have time to get an other crack at the intel which is already half way to beeing caped. The way the respawn time is now I don't usually have time to get back there and bring it home.

I am not disagreeing with the curent respawn time, what I am suggesting is that we try a 10 second respawn time for a couple of days to see how it works out, see how it effects attrition.. I look at all the servers out there that play 2fort and they are all instant or 15-20 second respawn times and all I'm saying is I'm curious to see the effects of a 10 second respawn time..

PS: If it is also possible, for those who are score oriented, I would like to see caping the intel beeing worth 10 points or even more, it would motivate people to gaining the intel more.

I'm with Draco on this one. I've played "reduced" spawn time servers, which usually meant around five seconds or less. The games end up just like instant respawn: TFC-style spawn, spam, die, repeat.

I have no objection if Mana wants to try it for a few days, but really, there are plenty of servers out there already doing it. You aren't forced to only play on Lotus servers. (Especially without a stock maps server; everyone needs their shot of dustbowl.)

I forgot your guys comments so I don't know who I'll be agreeing with besides Mana here, he and I think that making the respawn time 10 seconds is too short and too much like death match for our liking. Yes with our Stock maps server going down you're not forced to only play in the Lotus Server, you can have your dose of any map you wan't if we don't have it on other servers. If the defense on the other team sucks and we do capture their intel, after we do so they can setup a bigger and better defense, if they don't its again their fault. Even tho yes it would be for a few days we don't wan't to spend the time and effort being lazy basterds to change it to 10 seconds. We would also probably need a separate mod to change respawn time, we already have 2 mods and 3 might be too many. (Lazyness)

I have had quite a lot of games already extending from 1-2 hours with the respawn times we have now and everything was fine. (As Mana said to me, he loves my block of text and my sucky writting style.)

Lets keep it like it is, it does the job :)

i agree. the respawn time really does make you alot more protective of your life, and it makes you take more measures to protect your intel and stuff, which is good for building skill.
