WiltChamberlain 0 #1 Posted January 12, 2008 I'm wondering if someone less technologically retarded than me could help me out here. My mic volume must be pretty low since people are always asking me to turn it up. I did everything Steam has for "troubleshooting," i.e., added "voice _sound whatever" to launch properties, adjusted settings in voice tab in the game, etc. I checked the Sound section in my Control Panel and I wonder if this is the problem: For microphones, it says "Microphone FP" and there is a sliding bar 0 - 100. I have it at 50. I'm not sure if this is for incoming (headphones) or outgoing (mic) I stole this mic from work and the package was really shiny and impressive so I assume it is a decent model. Any pointers? thanks
Dave 4 #2 Posted January 12, 2008 You can always run %SystemRoot%\system32\sndrec32.exe and record yourself to hear how the mic sounds. I think Microphone FP refers to a front-panel audio jack. If your mic is plugged into the back of your computer, the "Microphone" slider should do it. Also, click "Advanced" under the slider and check "Microphone Boost" for a bit of a volume increase (10dB I think). But if it's a USB mic, then I don't know; you're on your own.
