Major Team Fortress 2 Changes Coming! :d

Recommended Posts

Wonder if you all of you heard about the exciting new changes coming to TF2?

I'll list em here:

Unlockable Items/Weapons - For example: Medic can permaboost a players health to twice of his normal health until he dies. In exchange for having no uber)

Badlands - Remade for TF2 are coming

Well - Remade for TF2 in its original CTF glory (CP_WELL slightly altered to become CTF_WELL)

New Goldrush mode - A team must escort a wagon across the map to the opposing teams HQ. While defending it from the other team.

New map for the goldrush mode - Self explanatory.

Unlockable items and a new gameplay mode are on their way to the PC version of Valve's Team Fortress 2 as part of its upcoming large scale gameplay shift.

According to PC Gamer, the items will become available as gamers earn class-specific achievements. As the Medic will be the first class to receive specialized achievements, it will also be the first to receive new items.

One of the two Medic-specific items will be the Overhealer, which permanently doubles a target's health capacity. To balance this, Valve is considering increasing charge time for an Uber when it is equipped. Another possibility is that the company may remove the Overhealer's Uber capability altogether.

Currently, the plan is to allow gamers access to the Overhealer when they earn about half of the 35 Medic-specific achievements, with the other as yet unannounced item unlocked after the criteria for all the achievements have been met.

The items will be available via the new Loadout menu, suggesting that gamers will not be able to easily swap between the gameplay-altering tools in the midst of battle.

Goldrush, the second of the two forthcoming maps, sports a new escort-oriented gameplay mode. In it, the Blue team must escort a mining cart from one side of the map to the other. The more Blue are around, the faster the cart moves. However, it stops dead in its tracks if even one Red is in the vicinity, with the ever-moving point of conflict is said to make a solid defense rather tricky.

The two new maps, Badlands and Goldrush, are now expected to arrive in just over a month, with the Medic achievement pack and gameplay slated to hit before then. In true Valve spirit, which appears to be unaffected despite the studio's crushing defeat at the hands of Team Shacknews, the content will be provided for free to owners of the PC version.

At present, the company is unsure when or if it will release the content for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 editions of Team Fortress 2, which are only available in The Orange Box.

Everything is great as it is, one of the things to change will be meds heal right? So now he can boost like 200% but lose uber-charge, what is the point if another classes damage increases, it negates the boost. So it will just be more flash. I couldn't really care any less about this, kinda like a "meh" whatever.

Hi, I'm a bit worried about these "class-specific achievements"... what about us who don't have Steam? Will non-steam users be able to get these items and achievements?

The changes sound good and exciting but I hope us crackheads can use them :)

Yeah people will have to get used to the game all over again. But it will be fun. Change is good, except for people who are afraid of it.

Can't wait for that goldrush game mode, sounds like lotsafun.

I guarantee that Valve doesn't give 2 shits about you. Buy the game, then you can use the new weapons.

I wonder what the achievements would be for the other classes? Even though I like being spy, I'm going to probably unlock all of the things.

GRENADES FOR ALL CLASSES AS AN UNLOCKABLE?!?!?!?!?!

ANTI SPY AIR UNITS FOR ENGINEERS?!?! (ones that can see through cloak and disguise with the use of futuristic mega tracking technology?)

Oh that be the day... lol

It would also be kind of unfair for spies (like me :) ) to have sentry like that. I also know that TF2 will never, I repeat NEVER have nades. Valve said that grenades would make class specific traits less important, which is kinda true. I mean, why use the demoman at all when you have nades and other things. So those hopeful for nades, hate to bust it to you, but it's not gonna be a reality. (Didn't mean to bust your bubble Mana :) ) Anyway, I think Valve is thinking of the type of upgrades where you give up something to make something else better. Kinda like being able to make 2 sentries, but no dispencer or teles. Or being able to attack while cloaking, but having a short cloak or no disguise. Stuff like that.

Edit: By the way, about the Goldrush thing, watch the "Meet the Engineer". You'll see that's actually derived from Goldrush. Red engie is stopping the Blu team from moving the wagon, by defending it. That's a good strategy to keep in mind when Goldrush does come out.
