Maybe A New Mac, But About Steam?

Recommended Posts

Alright, I was lucky enough to find out that my mom's cousin has a mac from last year she no longer uses (2.0Ghz Intel Core duo processor, 1GB RAM, 80GB HD, all of which is better than my current PC, so don't go complaining that I shouldn't get it). Now, the thing is Steam and it's games. 1. Is there are program that lets programs from Windows run on a Mac or 2. Can I wipe off Mac and just install XP on it. I would prefer 1, because there might be some unknown consequences of wiping a Mac. And I'm not willing to use up my 80GB disk space with Mac and Windows together using bootcamp. Thanks.

You can run Parallels or Vmware right in OS X to be able to run windows, or you could use Bootcamp to boot into XP, and then sitll be able to boot into OS X. Google those for more info. Bootcamp would basically take up the same amount of space as parallels or vmware, but would be better for gaming. Either way you need to put an entire windows install on the drive.

Seeing as it's an Intel Mac you can easily install XP on it. Slight problem:

Somehow I think t hat Mac comes with a crappy video card. So you might not actually be better off than you are with your current pc.

I highly doubt that the video card will be a problem. What's worst than a NVIDIA GeForce FX with only 128MB RAM in it?

And by wipe the Mac, I mean make it a "nude" pc, with nothing on it, and then put XP.
