This happens on steam games, not the first time. The ship, Day of Defeat source, and others had a free weekend. Some more than once.

It's just good marketing. There's no reason to stop trying to get more customers

Heh. They had a couple DoD:S weekends. I played the game whenever they had it, but never bought it. I plan to eventually though. ANd I've already got Orange Box. A couple months ago, I probably woud've been able to play it at a bearable 10fps, but my computer has been slowly deteriorating since then.

Broken sound card
