Anonymous Coward 0 #1 Posted September 13, 2008 Recently I have tried log in to any of the Lotus servers and the screen stuck and "Parsing Game Info" box and it stay there for 10 minutes and not moving. I suspect this may be a firewall issue but I don't know what port to unblock at. Where can I find these information? Or may be something else to look for? Thanks a lot! Anonymous Coward 0 #3 Posted September 13, 2008 I disconnect and reconnect like 10 times for each try and for all Lotus servers. This happens last Saturday 9/6/2008 also but I thought it just intermittent issue. There are some other non-Lotus server also have the same problem. I am looking into it right now as there are multiple people who used my machine and I smell something fishy.

Jengo 0 #5 Posted September 13, 2008 Try disabling your firewall as Mana suggested. Also, if you're behind a router, be sure you have the right ports forwarded on your router. My old router would reset to defaults intermittently and I ended up replacing it with a new one. You can get the info from Steam's support section on their site. You can also get the info on www.portforward.com
LunchBox 10 #6 Posted September 13, 2008 I've been having an odd problem with TF2, every so often when I start up TF2 and try to join a server, it kicks me out and gives me an error saying something like "Missing map ____" and kicks me back to the menu. Once that happens I am unable to join any server, it just wont connect to anything. So then I am forced to restart steam and once TF2 is started again all of my settings/binds are deleted and revered back to default, but I am able to join servers again. It doesn't happen a lot, maybe once a week.
Anonymous Coward 0 #7 Posted September 14, 2008 Thanks for all the suggestions. First of all, I am using a computer who double act as a DHCP server for our local subnet, running Windows 2003 Server Enterprise edition. (Yes indeed you can run TF2 on Windows 2003). I disabled the firewall but still can't connect. I did a virus scan just be cautious and boom.... Got infected by a trojan! I didn't install much stuff and I carefully screen them when it is applied to the DHCP server. So i suspect it might be infected from one of the DHCP clients. I need to reformat the server and to check all people who connect through this server for a virus check. OK finally our DHCP server is back up, and the firewall is properly configured so that it allows port commonly used by steam and hl2.exe. However I have uncovered another major problem uncovered while entering the server: Disconnect: STEAM_0:0:6000521 is banned. Now I have to investigate what the hell is going on. Either some of our DHCP clients has installed a sniffer/infected a virus on our network and used my account, or any one of two of my siblings used my account to start a flame war or whatever. I can join some other servers, and the account is not VAC banned (VAC Status: In good standing).

Anonymous Coward 0 #9 Posted September 17, 2008  Turns out my brother using custom skins to play that cause the botnet infection. He claimed that it gives him "speed assistance". I guess nobody can unfilter my steamID here but now he need to shell out $ to buy a new copy for me + compensation of labor for setting the DHCP server back up :D
Jengo 0 #10 Posted September 17, 2008 Never heard of a skin containing a virus or even being able to do so. Nor have I heard of skins providing any speed assistance since they don't have anything to do with that, although I know some are used to wallhack. Perhaps the virus just came from the website he went to in order to get the skins. Or it was in the compressed archive containing them in the download.
