Sarum 0 #1 Posted October 13, 2008 So... I played for an hour with a K:D > 2 today.. and my skill dropped over 1000 points.. !? And before you say it has anything to do with stats or kills or whatever... check out Tuxedo's skill today. Anyways, I'm not sure what is going on, but it is definitely acting screwy. And, I hate to bring it up.. but.. what is up with Mana's kills and skill?! Are we really expected to believe that Mana has a K:D ratio better than 3x the next highest person in all these pool of players?
Mana 3,867 #2 Posted October 13, 2008 Skill drops if you are inactive. I believe the grace is 72 hours and then it will start dropping XXX amount of points each 24 hours of inactivity. Although it's not working for some peoplefor some reason... It's meant to keep people who last played months ago from the top ranks. And my skill was messed up when stats kept processing the same log over and over multiple times and then it crashed.

Yea, it's really unfortunate mana..sucks that you can reset it to what it should be..oh wait..
Jengo 0 #4 Posted October 14, 2008 I would think it would be much simpler to just reset the whole thing once you have it straightened out. That way, you can tell if it is working properly, rather than guessing that most of it is the old screw ups. Some of it is, sure. But I'm not so sure about all of it. I should have kept track of my kills this weekend, but I honestly think the stats are a little off. Since you "reset" mine, I cannot do a search for my player name. I can click through the pages and find it though. However, it does not list my Steam ID, my ip, nor my player name in the spot where it should. Also, the stats signature for it is not working. Most of the fields are blank, except for kills with the weapon I have used the most, and the map I have played on the most. I would have thought that information would be there when it started registering me again, but it isn't. http://stats.lotusclan.com/tf2/player.php?id=268507 Edit: Yep, they're f'ed up again. Seriously, why use psychostats when it screws up like this and you can't have accurate stats? What's the point? You're using it so it doesn't get exploited like Hlstats and everyone only does a certain thing to gain rank? Well, I don't see how this is any better. The more it fucks up, the longer it takes to get corrected, and it just fucks up again anyway so its never right. So why don't you just draw numbers from a hat every week and tell ppl what their skill level is. Same randomness.

Stats will now take longer to process but starting now should be accurate. Try playing a game and then checking ~3 hours later if your steam id is shown on your profile page. Corazu 0 #6 Posted October 14, 2008 They're just stats..they don't mean much. It's not really a priority.
Sarum 0 #7 Posted October 14, 2008 OK.. so.. This guy.. http://stats.lotusclan.com/tf2/player.php?...1cc8cd7d4844f97 Is the highest rank player now... He played for 4.5 hours with a K:D ratio less than 1.. and primarily played engineer.. with a K:D less than one.. Why is he the highest skilled player? And, I played 2 days in a row now, much longer than 3 hours ago, right around my normal performance level of late (1.32:1 K:D), and I'm still dropping like a rock... I KNOW its just stats.. but its fun for me to try to raise my rank. A good, fair and stable stat system is what I love to support with donations. I've been hanging out on your wonderful servers for a month or so now on Sarum and Animade, and I love the selection of servers and the player base. But the stats, while it may not seem important to all, have been unexplainable for most of the month I've been here.
silvio 0 #8 Posted October 14, 2008 what can you do?They actively mess up but at least its keeping track of your kills and deaths right?I went from 72 last night to almost 2000 in rank so its whatever.

As I said... I have downgraded the stats. Those 2 days are now irrelevant. The changes should be seen starting now.
Sarum 0 #10 Posted October 14, 2008 Gotcha Mana.. Thx for the explanation. So are you running Psychostats 3.0 now?

Jengo 0 #12 Posted October 14, 2008 I have downgraded psychostats to the old "stable" version. Stats will now take longer to process but starting now should be accurate.Try playing a game and then checking ~3 hours later if your steam id is shown on your profile page. Alright, I'll play later on and check it. I'll post back with whether or not its working again. what can you do?They actively mess up but at least its keeping track of your kills and deaths right?I went from 72 last night to almost 2000 in rank so its whatever. No, it wasn't keeping accurate track of kills and deaths. It might be in the individual logs, but we don't see those. We only see what has been processed. Let's say in a session you played against 2 other people and they each killed you once, and you killed both of them twice. That's 4 kills and 2 deaths. Easy enough thats a 2:1 kdr. Now that gets processed over and over again. Let's say it gets processed two more times. Now, your kills are at 12 and your deaths are at 6. Some would think thats ok since your KDR is still the same. However, what happens when you take the same scenario, except neither one of your opponents actually killed you in that session. So, you have a total of 4:1 KDR. Now it gets processed twice again. Your KDR for the both players wil change to 6:0. Thats a KDR of 12:1. Now, your skill level will skyrocket. And of course the opposite is true. How about when a player comes on, gets one or two kills on you and then leaves before you had a chance to get back at them? That 0:2 KDR could easily turn into 0:12. And your skill points drop just as quick. How long do you think it would take to recover from that one player's kills against you getting processed over and over? Those are just small numbers, we know it was getting processed more than that. Thats not even taking into account caps, team wins/losses, etc. And I believe psychostats has weighted weapons too, so it may process those things over and over like getting a kill with your shovel is worth more than gettting a kill with your rpg, or w/e. Ok, I think I'm just rambling at this point. I like keeping track of my stats and skill points. That way, I can see how I'm doing and what things I could probably improve upon. Like what weapons kill me the most, and try to improve my strategy against those classes, etc. But when it screws up, all that info is pretty much null and it takes too long to even back out again. Ok, it did report my Steam ID, ip, and player name. Also, the stats sig seems to be working again. However, its reporting the wrong map again under player maps(not that big of a deal). And I guess I'm going to have to wait a bit longer to see if it got my kills/deaths right, because right now it is off quite a bit (I have more than what it is reporting at the moment). But I just got done playing, so I'll check it again later. Hopefully it won't take long to recover from the 1800 point drop.

Sarum 0 #21 Posted October 16, 2008 He's referring to the bug that causes stats to be recompiled over and over and over.... I mean.. isn't that how you got to 125K kills? I haven't played with Mana yet, which is odd, because I play almost all the loutus servers (except for 2 fort) and I never see him.
