There has been an update, you may try using sv_password and if that doesn't work read below.

As you may know by now the "sv_password" function is broken and a passworded server will not work.

Be sure to read this thread first for the info on how to create a server that is joinable via the Server Browser:

Then do the following:

To your server.cfg add

sv_allow_lobby_connect_only 0

sv_unreserve

also add

-nomaster

to the launch parameters of your LFD server. This will cause the server to start whitout listing itself on the server browser or the lobby. Then you can just give the IP out to the people you want to play with and they can add it to favorites.
