bunny! 0 #1 Posted April 14, 2010 Hello, Lotus. Bunny here. I can't help but feel that Stocks 3 is a pretty under-maintained server. I've donated twice and I play here often. The player base is awesome - it's really a shame that the server doesn't get any admin attention. * First off (and this applies to all Lotus servers), please stop with the false player counts. It's cheap and obnoxious, and a quick "View Server Info" is all I need to get around it. A clan as well-known as Lotus doesn't need such tactics to gather players. * Stocks 3 is unstable. It restarts seemingly at random. * Attempting to RTV during the firt 10 minutes a map issues a warning and doesn't work, but votemap works just fine. * As Mana pointed out, when players disconnect the reason simply shows up as "( )" instead of "(Disconnect by User)" or whatever. * Loses Steam connection WAAAAY too often. Don't know how this would be fixed. That's all I can think of at the moment. Thanks for listening. - Bunny
Mana 3,867 #2 Posted April 14, 2010 Hello, Lotus. Bunny here. I can't help but feel that Stocks 3 is a pretty under-maintained server. I've donated twice and I play here often. The player base is awesome - it's really a shame that the server doesn't get any admin attention. All our Linux servers share the same configuration. * First off (and this applies to all Lotus servers), please stop with the false player counts. It's cheap and obnoxious, and a quick "View Server Info" is all I need to get around it. A clan as well-known as Lotus doesn't need such tactics to gather players. Precisely, view game info beforehand. * Stocks 3 is unstable. It restarts seemingly at random. If it keeps happening, I will take a look at the crash dumps to see what the reason is. * Attempting to RTV during the firt 10 minutes a map issues a warning and doesn't work, but votemap works just fine. So votemap works? That seems like an oversight and should be disabled. * As Mana pointed out, when players disconnect the reason simply shows up as "( )" instead of "(Disconnect by User)" or whatever. Thank valve. They let people load plugins on the client which are undetectable cheats/hacks that won't get the VAC Banned. One of the easy things that this lets people do is crash servers AND clients by adding certain characters to the disconnect message. Don't know how this would be fixed. Again, thank Valve. It was either that or have unkickable ghost players which are Valve's built in fake players that take up real slots and never leave (preventing real players from joining). In any case, we can no longer use the older engine file with the master server move. So I will look into other ways of going around those ghosts players. In the meantime the servers will be back to connecting to Steam as usual and if you see 34/34 when there's 10 players, it's normal, according to Valve. Also, remember that "Server has lost connection to steam" is a generic message. When you lose connection to steam, the same message will pop up. Mana 3,867 #3 Posted April 15, 2010 EDIT: I hear you like fake players. So to counter Valve's shitty ghost players I'm just setting our Linux servers to perma 33/34, empty, full or in between. At least people will be able to join and play using all slots now. Now's your time to hone those "view game info" skills.

I love Bunny, but this is funny. :-) Way to be, Mana (even though I don't like realfake). ^.^
