Near 0 #1 Posted June 10, 2010 When i try to start Team Fortress 2 a window pops up that says "Preparing to launch Team Fortress 2" after maybe 2-3 seconds the window closes and Team Fortress 2 never comes up. (no error message pops up or anything) I have tried deleting team fortress 2 and reinstalling it....that didnt work I have also tried deleting everything in the Steam file except "Steamapps" and "Steam.exe" and starting steam and that didnt work.... I have looked all over the internet and have found no solution to this problem... If anyone can help me with this problem i would be so glad. Thankyou to anyone who at least reads this... Paul Bunyan 13 #2 Posted June 10, 2010 Try running it as an administrator. This happened to me once, and I think that's all I did to make it work.

Krash 1,040 #6 Posted June 10, 2010 If that doesn't work (Which it probably will) do the same but to 'hl2.exe' in your team fortress 2/tf/ folder.

Brokkoly 11 #14 Posted June 15, 2010 the loss of connection to steam is serverside, not client-based, it's ok, you'll live without your yummy sandvich, full of balogna and lettuce, tomatoes, oh god, it's worse than I thought!
Mana 3,867 #15 Posted June 15, 2010 the loss of connection to steam is serverside, not client-based, it's ok, you'll live without your yummy sandvich, full of balogna and lettuce, tomatoes, oh god, it's worse than I thought! It's both. However the message is the same. When the client loses connection to Steam it will get the "Server has lost connection" message, even though everyone else (server included) will have the connection. Also Valve has finally made it so the servers auto reconnect to steam. Thus making it even less likely that the server does lose connection to Steam when Steam Cloud is not down. For a client to regain connection a reconnect is needed.
