Oww My Nose 19 #2 Posted September 14, 2010 They're testing. They've actually streamlined the process, eliminating the need for alpha and beta builds at all.
Mana 3,867 #3 Posted September 14, 2010 They crashed them all again yesterday :/. So that's twice in one night... yay.
Mana 3,867 #4 Posted September 15, 2010 They crashed them again. Seems like similar time to yesterday. Maybe all the servers and clients will crash again at midnight as well. Neph was bitching about it on IRC last week. Fun times. He thinks people still use IRC, psh. That's like so... 1990's.

Mana 3,867 #8 Posted September 20, 2010 We think we have this fixed now. The gameservers were getting into a state where restarting part of the Steam service would cause them to crash. In fact, the second crash on Sunday morning (10:58am PDT) was caused by pushing the fix live. We restarted that part of Steam this morning at 10:40am PDT and there were no reports of servers crashing en mass around that time, so we should be good. From this point forward, if you see any more instances of many servers crashing at once, please send me callstacks or crash dump files and I'll take a look. Joe Ludwig Hopefully they fixed it now.
