Credomane 2 #1 Posted May 2, 2011 Would it be possible to convince you to enable this setting? I find it fairly annoying to be talking/listening to someone then have the speaker get cut off mid sentence. Yes, there are the few that will abuse this if it does get enabled but my counter-argument is there are so few people that respond to vocal warnings when you are alive what difference will it make if the person delivering the warning is either dead or alive. Having tf_teamtalk off does more to harm the idle banter between teammates than it curbs potential "cheating" in my opinion. A test run might be in order so to speak to determine one way or the other, though. Do what you like as I'm just throwing this into the suggestion box so to speak. I think this would be fine for something like Stock Maps, but I certainly wouldn't want it enabled in any Arena-Type setting. I really don't see how one could possibly cheat to an extent on a non-arena map. "Oh crap I died, they're capping!" -- This can be conveyed in many other ways. I really enjoy it off in Arena, it would be so annoying for some guy to yell "behind you!" or hear "you SUCK" while you're the last guy alive. I'd rather my teammates be silent during this time period.
Lemon Jelly 26 #3 Posted May 4, 2011 This would bad for anyone playing spy on either team. Besides I think its a habit for anyone that dies while talking, to finish what they were saying when they spawn. just my 2 cents...

Yes arena maps would certainly need this kept off. This would bad for anyone playing spy on either team. The number of people that respond to vocal warnings I can count on my 8 fingers and 2 thumbs. Any spy that IS affected wasn't any good anyways and needs to get better. It amazes me the number of spies that decloak directly behind you then accuse you of hacking when you 180 and kill them a few times. Never occurs to them that people can hear the decloak even after I straight up tell them. The point behind enabling this option is to eliminate having to finish what you were saying after respawning ~15 seconds later and the conversation has already moved on. IMO they're a lot of people who do respond to vocal warnings and It would bother me if say for example a group of people were pushing the cart and I stab the person furthest back. As soon he dies he'll yell "spy on the cart!". Then everyone else turns around that wouldn't normally and then would attack me. Also cloaking sound can be silent if using the spy set or if enough action is going on to drown out decloak sound.
Mana 3,867 #7 Posted May 7, 2011 I'm not sure about this. It's a little late to start changing a setting like this. People are used to the server chat being the way it is.
