Surtails - Helpful, Good Player, Friend

I know that this has been posted on another topic but I just wanted to make sure it was seen. Below explains meeting SurTails, hating him, learning about the server, and becoming good friends.

Let me tell you a little something about joining your servers. I joined your Chicago Insta-spawn server a looooong time ago. I stopped playing and decided to come back. Played your server to find a nice friendly environment. You had a few trolls but you find those everywhere. Not like the trolls could do much anyway. That was until I met SurTails. I played him over and over and after a bit, I was EXTREMELY angry at him. One could say I was "mad". I quickly realized that he'd try banning me if I killed him and of course, it never went through but I had a good laugh each time. After playing a small amount more with him, we got to know each other and he turned out to be a really nice guy that just has fun playing. He made it fun for me to join and still tries kicking me to this day. You could say it's abuse but I say it's all out of good fun. As for BroBot.... I'm deeply disappointed that someone like him would try banning SurTails from the server indefinitely. There are much worse people to ban. Such as those that use the teleporter glitch, allowing a spy to enter the spawn. That is seen repeatedly. Those that cry over and over... SurTails helps clear out the morons. If someone doesn't want to try banning someone else because they don't think it'll go through, SurTails would take care of that for them so that it could be an instant vote. People only vote when they truly feel strong about what they're voting so, voting yes and banning someone actually means that SurTails got rid of someone that was unwanted. SurTails is a really good friend of mine now and I will defend him til the end. I was thinking of donating and now I'm not so sure. That would be the server to donate to and now he is no longer part of it.... That's not good for anyone. A lot of people are friends with SurTails and would rather have him back than to ever see BroBot again. BroBot may donate, however it is seldom to see him connected to that server. As a REGULAR to that server, I believe that SurTails is an asset to the server and a fun person to be around. Thanks for reading longer than expected story.

He's a helpful guy and I'm sure if you visit the server during just about any time, few would know BroBot (for the few appearances he makes) and many would know and defend SurTails. He is a great player, a funny guy, and banning is used as a utility, as well as a joke. He'd attempt lots of votebans and kicks but from the demo files you've seen, have you see an actual successful one? There are VERY few. Those that do pass, are necessary. I'm extremely unsatisfied with the actions of BroBot and wish he wouldn't become so upset over a joke at first, and also just a small amount of trolling (of which is proven to be harmless in his own screenshots). You'll lose people, I'm sure, if you keep SurTails gone. Friends stick together and we are ALL REGULARS TO YOUR SERVER. Those with a problem with SurTails have probably played the server, gotten killed lots by SurTails, then he might joke with them, then a voteban occurs... that's frustration. Ask those on the server, please. I wouldn't go to this much trouble to write all this at 2:44 am if it wasn't worth it.

ive only known surtails for a little bit and all i know is that i have never personally seen him do anything bannable... ever! hes a genuinly nice person all you have to do is realize hes joking and hes fine. brobot has no right to warp this out of proportion

He can be annoying at times, but he shoulnt be banned, I concur with the other posters on this. Most of the regular people on the server that we all play on like him, and thinks hes funny, he shouldn't be banned if someone thought he was annoying, I don't think there's anything that he could do that would be worthy of a banning. it can't be for hacking, so was he annoying, who cares, hes not racist like some other players who are on there, lets get that ban removed, he really loves that server

I have also gotten angry at him being annoying, but he doesn't deserve a ban.

As a regular I'd like to put a good word in for SurTails as well. Sure, the guy can act much like the stereotypical "lol I pwnt u. u mad?" gamer, but I have never witnessed nor heard of him legit trolling someone to the point of insult. Sure, he uses the voteban/kick features as a tool in his arsenal to rile people up, but I have never personally observed one of those kicks/bans actually work. Lord knows he has tried it on me a dozen times. I think it is hilarious, a compliment even!

Admittedly I do see how this can be viewed as a form of privilege abuse, and I know not the extent of the circumstances under which he suffered the original warning, but I believe that a permaban is a little extreme as a form of punishment. The man donated to the server. As a result he was granted the varied assortment of powers set up by your own people (Lotus). You guys had to have considered that, at some point or another, someone might use that power in a case where it wasn't quite justified. SurTails does it in jest, meaning that he doesn't actually WANT the player banned. It IS a vote afterall, and it requires a majority for it to go through. I'm sure there are other cases where one might attempt to ban someone out of true anger driven irrationality.. but I suppose that particular musing is somewhat irrelevant seeing how I am merely talking in hypotheticals.. My point is that if SurTails is to be treated as a textbook example of power abuse, does that mean you guys investigate each and every single donator banning attempt, including every one initiated by SurTails and the reasoning behind them? If not.. Is this truly a fair trial, or just SurTails getting burned for annoying one too many over-sensitive users? Why not just temp ban, or just revoke his donator status? I reiterate: He initiated those votes out of jest, not malice. To cut him off all together seems unnecessary.

He may be a bit of a gamer troll, but compared to ones I have seen he is very tame. All around he is fun to play with and you will see that he is a nice dude if your hide is thick enough to realize the man is just kidding around.

The regulars of the Chicago Insta-spawn server will be posting here to show their devotion towards keeping the regulars together. The regulars that I am referring to are those that could be donators,or even potential dontators who are frequent to your server. We essentially moderate that server, keeping the players there from being complete jerks to each other while teaching the new players the classes. It may seem that we tease them, however if you stay for a while, you'd see how things work and how we help them. One of your current donators was new to the server about 2 months ago. I met him there and after giving him a little run around (teasing and such) we started playing more, added each other, and I started teaching some scout techniques to him. Then we started learning new stuff together. After playing on the server for a while, he decided to donate and keep your server up and running. I was going to soon after, as I was waiting for my paycheck. What it really comes down to is that we bring in regulars and have fun with each other. We then donate to Lotus and subscribe donator status to a particular server because of the players that are regularly there. Upon banning SurTails, you would ruin the community we have there and after all, we're all about community. Sure, he may have said he'd stop and he actually TRIED. I remember how he would hold back, it was hilarious. It's just him to start the votebans that very RARELY actually pass through, banning the person for 30 minutes. The regulars of the server will be upset to find a good friend left behind. Lets get SurTails back in, he's part of the playing experience. Afronanny, I wish you would play that server more often to find how things work there with SurTails and all us friends there. We have a great time and the voteban on me because I killed him with a taunt is always satisfying. I have never been actually banned from the server but have had attempts of voteban done to me MANY times. Please reconsider and we're all going to be here for you to contact. We care about the server and about the friends we gain there. Don't take that away.

Not to run on and on, but just put yourself in our position. We lost a friend and now we can't even play with him on our favorite server. We're forced to play other servers or just without him. It's not fair to anyone, especially when he is friends with many. A voteban on him in game had never gone through either. Just thought that was relevant information. Thanks for reading.

Hey Louts. My name is Club Sandwich. I've been playing on your 2fort insta-spawn tf2 server since i got the game, about 2.5 months ago. I've know SurTails since my first log in. At first, I considered him a run-of-the-mill troll, common on the internet. Then, I got to know him. It turns out, hes a really nice guy. If you get on Lotus, you will see that the vast majority of people like SurTails, think hes funny, and would prefer him not to get banned. Sure, he does start many votebans. However, these votebans RARELY ever go through. Those that do are ones where the person getting banned deserved it. Otherwise, they were just harmless little votebans that effected no one. BroBot just overreacted. When people get a voteban started against them by SurTails, instead of raging or complaining about it, they just "LOL" about it, and laugh it off. There are many many many other people that deserve bans besides someone who just starts votebans as a joke. While I won't name names, many of these people spam repetitively, or they are constantly spewing racial slurs. Please consider this appeal, because SurTails banning was unjust.

Jeez, I leave the server for a week and I miss all this drama?! Seriously though, SurTails is one of the primary reasons I keep coming back to the good ol' InstaSpawn server. Everything I need to say has been said by countless other regulars already, but I'd just like to add that BroBot is the only one who gets mad enough about this to actually try and get Tails banned for real. I think that all we're dealing with is a case of BroBot expressing his butthurt in a non-constructive way. Please don't let one of the most fun people on the server get permabanned just because a couple of non-regulars got mad.

I'm going to make this short and sweet. SurTails has a sense of humor that you have to have a calm mind to understand. Those that have minds that rage and get frustrated easily, can't see that humor and it ends up with SurTails being banned. I love the Lotus server, I really do. The Lotus server is full of colorful characters, some make you laugh and some make you rage. I have my issues with a certain someone that I won't mention at this time, but that's just how things are. SurTails, like most of us, don't take TF2 seriously and have actual fun with it. Everyone else who gets angry with SurTails thinks that TF2 is serious business and can't see the joking nature behind his votebans. Like Scoot said, there are VERY few of those votebans that actually go through and those that do, mean that the person wasn't liked by most of the players anyways. I haven't been playing the Lotus server for very long, but I'm already keyed into SurTails' sense of humor and I get a good laugh every time I play with him on the server. TF2 is not serious business and it needs jokes and people with a special sense of humor to understand them. I'm a donator for Lotus, but I might not donate again knowing that SurTails is going to be banned because Brobot thinks TF2 is serious business and can't see the joking nature. My last words: SurTails makes Lotus fun and weeds out the anti-fun people from the rest of us.

With surtails banned I will be playing my fav server a lot more, Idk why people are defending him, all he did was grief, spam insults in caps and act like he was the best person ever to regular a tf2 server. It came to the point that if I wanted to play tf2 I would have to check to see if he was playing on the server and if he was, I would just close the game and go hang out with one of my buddies or cousins then come back later and hope he wasn't on. I used to be able to just mute him so I couldn't see what he typed but then once he "donated" I could no longer do that. Whenever he was on the server he would make me a personal target for trolling and voteban abuse. He does NOT deserve to be unbanned.
