Sync Error And Router Question

Recommended Posts

Good Day to you all.

I have some questions regarding an error called Sync error.

First of all I've posted in the technical support section in the Sync error topic but i'm not so sure i'll get any good advice there so i'll sum up my situation here.

I have two computers, both with internet connection and when i want to play with my brother in LAN this Sync Error shows up early in the game when our armies meet each other.

My questions are the following: how can i avoid this? and does it have to do with some kind of router and its ports? if so, how do i open them???

Thanks, HolyLaw

To my knowledge this occurs when something between your two copies of the game do not match, and so it drops one of you out. Sync Error Dropped 'name'.

It could occur if one of you is using a trainer (a program that lets you cheat), i.e the game doesn't match your friends' and it drops you out.

Also here is an extract from the 'readme' file included with BR:

Battle Realms is a synchronous game, meaning that the same calculations must

happen on both computers at the same time. Should the calculations on two

computers turn out differently, the game will desync.

Testing has shown that the primary cause of sync errors in Battle Realms is

computational interference created by running other programs in the

background. Norton Utilities programs are particularly troublesome, but

smaller programs such as MSN Messenger and other instant message clients

have been shown to create sync errors, as well.

Please disable all other background programs before playing multiplayer.
