Tf2 Votekick Welcoming...

Recommended Posts

I was on the server playing one of my favorite classes, and I'm relatively new to the server. We make a rush and pushed them back to their spawn, I stay at their spawn, and we send a full crew to their intel, I ran out of grenade launcher ammo, and resorted to my sticky launcher. I start tagging them as they leave with the stickies, some of the stickies were already prepared, this goes on for about 20 kills, and then they start a vote kick against me to get me out of the base.

In the time that I've been on the server we've had 2 people able to push us back, and spawn camp us, no one did shit about it, and they start calling me out for doing it once.

After they votekicked me, I rejoined, and before my game even came out of the loading screen, they had started another votekick against me. At the same time of the second votekick, a heavy from the other team was spawn killing us, and no action was taken against him.

Can someone explain anything here, in my opinion this is votekick abuse.

Sorry to hear about your experience!

There's not much we an do when multiple people are initiating a votekick and passing it. If you feel like you're being targeted by an individual or group of individuals, you can record a demo. Open your console (you'll have to enable this in advanced options, then hit ~), type "record <filename>" and "status" to get everyone's steam ids. This will record a demo of what happens on the server and give us a better picture of what's going on. If you're kicked before this happens, you can always open the console and take screenshots of the log. Then you can return to the forum and make a ban request. Additionally, if you have trouble on a server, you can type !calladmin into chat to receive assistance.

Just remember, it is *team* fortress, and try to play in a way that is courteous to your fellow gamers. If this is a continued problem you experience on servers, you might be behaving in a way that is bothering other people or interrupting the game.

All I was doing was giving my team a small window in which they can go down, and get the intelligence, I will record a video next time something like this happens. However on the topic of the behavior, that can't be right, if anything, I was trying to stop players from harassing a player for not having a microphone.

I spawncamp too in 2Fort, to give my scout a window of time to get past defenses. Sure, people get upset. But if you can't break spawncamp, then you're doing something wrong.

Personally, I always found spawncamps a good way to play together as a team to break and push out and show them who's boss. Before getting killed again, but that's more fun regardless :D

But that's just me :)

camping the enemy spawndoor is a legit way to help the scouts / w/e to get to the intel and leave save.

and it's the perfect way to punish the enemys lack of defense.

we're doing this all day long on 2fort UK - might wanna switch to us ;)

if ther's nothing else behind your story, I'm sorry that you've got kicked for playing the game. Thanks to spawndoor mechanics and respawn-rooms, there is no such thing as "spawncamping".

They just did't know how to

1) prevent this situation

2) deal with the situation

You can always !calladmin if you feel like you're being unfairly targeted. I have nothing against spawn camping and there's no official rule against it in Lotus servers. It's just one of many strategies that is totally preventable and overcome-able. You may or may not get sympathy from whoever responds if the majority of the server started and passed the first kick, but there was definitely no reason to kick you a second time just for joining.
