DarkClaw 0 #1 Posted April 29, 2008 Alright, I've been working for a while now, and at the pace it's going right now, I'm going to have to wait till next year! So, either this summer, I work full time, which is 5 days a week, (either mornings or afternoons), or part time, which is 2-3 days a week, and wait till next year for my awesome computer (and maybe by then, I'll need even more money ). Oh, and the difference between mornings and afternoons are: 1. Mornings go by slower, because of so many cars in the drive-thru, and it's always busy, and we always have to rush, so what feels like 5 minutes is actually 5 seconds, while in the afternoon, it passes relatively fast, and we get to loaf around a little. 2. Afternoons will basically take away my afternoons (shift of 3PM-10PM), and I might not be able to play as much TF2 with you guys, although I will still be as active as possible, while mornings let me keep my whole afternoon, but I have to wake up extra early (must wake up at 6AM, shift of 7AM-3PM). 3. Mornings are much more fructiful with tips (15-25$), because there are constantly people wanting coffee, and I could save up those tips to maybe make it faster, if I don't have the urge to spend. The afternoon is not as great though (5-15$).

Rambler 0 #5 Posted April 30, 2008 Get a job in a factory. How old are you? I started pulling 12 hour shifts in a factory in my home town and was making about 120 dollars a shift. It sucked, and it was the worst experience of my life, but I worked three days a week, partied as much as I wanted, controlled my own schedule, and got tough. Seriously though, I do recommend working somewhere else. There's no money in the service industry... well, at least working in a place like Timmy's. You could try getting into a real restaurant where you're guaranteed to make more money1 I also vote working full-time.
DarkClaw 0 #6 Posted April 30, 2008 I would love to work somewhere where English/French skills and typing/writing were required... That would be my cup of tea. But, there's none of that in the area I live in... No factories either. In my town, it's mostly tourism, service, and selling.
miniturtle 0 #7 Posted April 30, 2008 You should work at a restaurant.... I waitress right now in a really slow restaurant and I still make a lot on tips. Especially if you live in a tourist town! People love to eat, and tourists usually have a lot of money to spare to give you good tips. You can easily make $150-$200 extra a night.
Mouse 0 #8 Posted May 1, 2008 Or get an internship. You can make money & have fun. What's better than that?

Mouse 0 #12 Posted May 1, 2008 c0da is from my house. In Maryland. I also got an internship offer at Nasa.. for Optical Wavefront Sensing and Control for the James Webb Space Telescope. Although I'm not quite interested in optics, they do have an 8-core Mac Pro with an Nvidia 8800GT, 3.0 GHz and 16 GB Ram that I can use and they are using CUDA for Nvidia (GPU processing) which I am interested. I was thinking of saving for that Intel Skull Trail motherboard... 8 Cores (2 processors each 4 cores) Quad Sli/Quad Crossfire... But $600 JUST for the motherboard.. Not really worth it. Plus barely anything uses Multiple Cores. :/
