DarkClaw 0 #1 Posted May 10, 2008 Considering you guys are suggesting me to get a new job, here are a couple of hiring places around here. Some I'd like to work at: Staples (Even if I'm surrounded by shitty tech, at least I know a good amount of tech stuff from what everybody has taught me, which would definitely come in handy, meaning bonuses and raises ) EB Games (Pretty sure you guys know this, also a place I can shine thx to you guys) Grand Cinema 3 (movie theater, with a free movie for me every week ) Other choices: Walmart (Everybody knows Walmart too) Atlantic Superstore (Like Walmart, but Canadian) Rogers (Large Canadian company that rents movies) Home Hardware (Kinda Canadian version of Home Depot or similar) Shoppers Drug Mart (Mostly a health store, dunno if Americans have it) Giant Tiger (Like Walmart, except smaller and cheaper *yes it's possible!*) Canadian Tire (Retail store that specializes in tools, or anything that requires manual labor... AND CARS ) Rossy (Similar to Giant Tiger, except not as cheap) Pizza Delight (As name suggests, serves pizza, in the fancy restaurant style where you get a menu and such) Irving Blue Canoe (Similar to Pizza Delight, except not only pizza) Subway (Not the subway as in moving train, sub as in the one you eat ) I haven't quit my old job yet, as I will keep it until I can find a job at one of these places, and they'd have to offer me better perks or pay than Tim Hortons, or is enjoyable to be working at (Any place that actually has perks has more perks than Tim Hortons )
miniturtle 0 #2 Posted May 10, 2008 Subway- I worked at Subway and it sucks! Don't do it! Staples- I've had a couple of friends work there and I hear it sucks. You get bored and customers are never nice when it comes to their shitty tech stuff. EB Games- I had a friend that was a manager there and he liked it for the most part, but you do have to deal with all the little kids coming in. Movie Theater- I actually heard it wasn't too bad working @ one. And free movies are awesome. Drug Store- Don't work @ a drug store! I worked @ Rite Aid and uuuh, well all I can say is that you have to deal with the crazies before they get their medication. Pizza Delight and Irving Blue Canoe- I would suggest one of these places. A service business that allows for tips. Easiest way to bullshit yourself to fast money.
miniturtle 0 #3 Posted May 10, 2008 You're very indecisive aren't you?
DarkClaw 0 #4 Posted May 10, 2008 Well, not really indecisive, just giving a list of the best places to work around here. Yes, I know Staples has had those issues, but that's a reason why I kinda like it... the first reason where you get bored. I like easy jobs . Even if I'm bored, if I'm not doing much, I'll be happier... right now, my job is killing me from stress of too much things to do... and I'm used to people being assholes. Have you ever seen an asshole asking for coffee? "Yeah, get me 2 creams and 2 sugars but light on the sugars, and those creams need to be only half of creams, and if you don't stir it well I'll make you redo it" and they don't even give you tips for the 5 minutes it takes to make their stupid complicated orders. And thx for the confirmation that EB Games and the Movie theater are good places to work... And yes, I should have added Pizza Delight to the first part of the list... the Blue Canoe may be slightly better (Lots of customers, my family eats there often and it's usually packed), but I'd have to take a taxi there, it's quite far. miniturtle 0 #5 Posted May 10, 2008 Yeah, I know about the coffee assholes... at my restaurant we have a full cafe section with all the fixings of a coffee shop. The hardest part for me though is when people come in demanding a specific temp for their steamed milk... cause we don't have a thermometer and I end up having to guestimate it. Could you ride a bike to the blue canoe place? Or take a bus?
DarkClaw 0 #6 Posted May 11, 2008 No busses around here, and biking is nearly impossible, as it is in the middle of a highway system (I wouldn't bike in an area where cars are going over 100!). And guestimating as you call it, happens alot with us actually, making it very hard to please fussy people. Sugar, Sweetner, Milk, are all guestimates... Only the cream has a special dispencer.
