Problems With Steam's Vac Servers, And Etc?

Recommended Posts

Today, I've had a ton of trouble with steam's VAC servers-- it disconnects me after a minute saying it can't establish a connection. nothing's different for me than normal, no settings have been changed... I was able to play earlier today even, but then it just suddenly started at around nine thirty.

Anyone else have this problem, or any ideas on how to fix it?

Okay... apparently punkbuster was running in the background, though why I don't know... thanks...

Damn, it didn't work. My ports are open (I haven't changed anything anyway), there's no unusual background programs, my security software SHOULd work with it, and I am not running any background anti-cheat programs except for VAC when I run a steam game...

Restarted EVERYTHING, and still having problems. TF2 says it cannot connect to steam-- I can't even check achievements. I also have to continually log in when I check the steam community panel. Steam in-game UI says that the steam servers are down for maintenance, but noone but me seems to be havin this problem.

Trying one of those solutions. I do not run a lynksys though, I am directly connected to my modem, no router-- routers always caused me problems, so I run security programs and etc directly on my computer instead.

I know this doesn't help much, but I did notice the past few days a couple times it said the servers were down for maintenance and I couldn't get on for a minute, but it always went away pretty quickly. Maybe it will fix itself.... :-\

Maybe some firewall/anti-virus on your computer?

Maybe unplug your modem (so it reboots/resets)?

There's no new firewalls or anti-virus on my computer today, compared to earlier today when I was able to play... and I've already unplugged my moden and let it restart completely.

There's no reason for it to be doing this if it was able to do it earlier today and last night >.<

Steam Community Servers down for maintenance = Steam Community Servers crashed. That's the default "Server Offline" message. It happens everyday.

Did you try disabling your firewall and your secuirty application? (That includes Windows Firewall)

Deactivated both, tried it, and still nothing.

It can't be internet connectivity, as steam is the only thing that's fucking up...

Delete all Steam Files except steam.exe and steamapps folder

Run steam and it should get all the new files. See if that helps

Guess I'll wait until I wake up to try it out... I probably need to go to sleep now anyway...

Okay, found the problem after visiting Steam's forums.

Steam is having a ton of issues, apparently, with one of their servers that hosts accounts, and I just have to wait for them to get their asses in gear and fix it. There's hundreds of people who are having the same problem as I.

I checked that forum, seems valve solved the problem after 8+hours. Hope to see you playing tonight at 10 eastern on the stockmaps server where recruits face off against lotus in a thunderdome event!
