16 Slot Server

I think a 16 slot server would be a great addition. Although it probably wouldn't top the server charts it would probably help us get ready for clan matches and help us get better at teamwork and our own individual skills.

One example of how it would help is that it'd help with learning to play scout. From watching clan matches, one popular tactic is to have a medic, demo, soldier and 3 scouts. While the other team focuses on the demo and soldier, the scouts circle around and harass them and capture. On a 32 slot server, with 6-7 sentries on each team, it's impossible to play scout, and because there are so many people, it's impossible to flank. In a clan match, however, scouts are almost the best tactical class. Almost no one in Lotus really plays scout much though, because we only have 32 slot servers.

It would also help us get better at teamwork. It's kinda hard to organize strategies if you're on a 32 slot server, and many strategies don't work because there are simply so many people on the other team that they can hold all the chokepoints. Instead of working on simply the brute force strategy (which is what we usually do), we should work more on flanking and evasion, which is impossible on a 32 slot server.

Another reason is that 16 slot servers attract better players. With smaller number of people, everything is more 1 on 1, skill is more important.

btw, i think it should follow tgl guidelines, i.e. no crits, no pyro unlockables.

Oooh, well TGL is just one of those leagues, most leagues don't allow crits because it's too "lucky." Other than that, what do you think about the idea mana?

a 16 slot server would rock... while a 32 slot server is occasionally fun, i dont enjoy it for a long period of time due to the unorganization of it and lack of teamwork and more spamming and what not. just thought id give my opinion

I like this motion, I'd say convert the Turbine/Fastlane server I havent seen over 16 ppl on it anyway.

Medic unlocks are allowed in many leagues as its thought that they dont change gameplay. But kritzkrieg is useless since crits are turned off it doesnt do anything.

I agree completely as well. You can put no crits and all the other tournament rules on. It would be awesome.

I think this is a really good idea! It'll get people used to playing on a smaller team. And like coda said we can really practice strategy this way and play up each others' strengths.

I have a feeling this would be a really popular (always full) server. It would be a big incentive to donate and get a reserved spot there as it will be hard to get in.
