Tf2 Servers, Incorrect Numbers Of Players

Ok.. I like the servers for the most part but I am having real issues with the incorrect number of players being displayed when trying to join a server. Nothing is more frustrating to see a server with 25-32 players and then jump in and it has 5 people playing. I exit and refresh, sure enough, 25-32 still playing. I check for info on who is playing and of course, there are 25 names but in reality no one is there.

Can something be done about this? Its really annoying.

Oh yeah and the party hats are annoying as well.

you can right click and select "view server status"

That will give you the names of all the players and the true number.

yea that usually happens to me in the morning on the less popular servers...but yea i would do wat pavement says.

All it does is make me leave, pissed off because I would sooner play on a Lotus server than a majority of the other pubs and then lose a spot on a server that really had players.

Well, to again test this theory of yours, which has failed me everytime I went to a server and tried it.

Maybe a round ended as you were loading the game and some people left. Its not unheard of...

No... it's a server mask. It's to keep the servers up near the top of the server list so people will click players and go to the higher player servers with "more" traffic. It's used in all Gabe & Co games in hopes of getting more traffic and actually filling up. There isn't anything you can do about it.

It can not show 25 names unless there are 25 names. You are clearly bad at counting. Because I do not have a plugin with a feature that fakes names, although that would be a good one.

Fake players do not exist, otherwise.. surely Valve would of patched it. It's just a figment of your imagination.
