Speaking of microphone related issues, I have a nub one:

My microphone test works in steam, but I have no idea if my mic is working in game (pretty sure it is not). Either no one can hear me, or I just haven't said anything worth responding to. Is there a good test in game to test functionality other than saying "can anyone hear me?"

Apologies for the nubishness.

Not that I know of. My steam has done some weird things to me, sometimes if I'm in a voicechat my mic doesn't work, and it works in game. All I can say is re-plug it in and keep testing =/.

You may have it working in Steam, but you still have to enable it for the game. Those mic settings don't just transfer over to the game from Steam.

Go to your option while in-game and make sure your voice is enabled, you test your microphone to see if it is working, and be sure you have a key bound to it. You can do all of that in your game options. You have to press that key in-game in order to be able to speak. Once you let go of that key, you will no longer be heard.

Plantronics headset ftw. Beside the fact I have never had any issues with it, it is the most comfortable headset I've ever owned.

Appearently I am having mic problems and can not get my colume high enough. I'll have to figure out if it is my mic of on-board sound. I have all mic volumes up and boost on so I am not sure where the problem lies. but the volume is kind of low even in sound recorder although it is a normal volume for a deaf son of a B***** like me. Anyone know anything about a MSI k8 nforce4 Ultra with *ch Audio having low mic volume?

BTW my headset is a plantronics that cost about $60 and is relatively new so I don't think that is the problem.
