More Maps In Rotation?

Recommended Posts

I play on Lotus DOD Stock Maps a decent amount, and, for the most part, I really like the server. However, as far as I can tell, it only rotates Donner, Ava, and Kalt unless if another map is voted in, which happens pretty rarely. It would be nice if a few more maps were on the rotation, as those three have a tendency to get monotonous. Or perhaps the server could have majority vote decide the next map (instead of majority vote with a high mininum vote).

Is this a possiblity/easy to do/something that Lotus would be okay with?

If not, cool, but I just thought I'd ask.

p.s. It's not just me that would like more variety in maps. Two of my friends also play regularly, and would like to see it mixed up a bit. Also, the reason I thought to ask at all was today I was talking to several other regulars who thought it would be nice to have more maps.

You posted this in the "News" forum which automatically hid it because only Lotus Staff can make announcements.

Anyway the server has the following mapcycle:

dod_argentan

dod_avalanche

dod_flash

dod_donner

dod_anzio

dod_kalt

dod_jagd

dod_colmar

dod_palermo

Only as the server name says, the next map is decided by vote. So if people vote for Avalanche instead of say Colmar then obviously Colmar won't be the next map.

Right, the server does switch maps by vote, but there is an auto cycle also. The server switches between Kalt->Avalanche->Donner->Kalt by default. So if no one votes for extend or for another map, it automatically goes to one of those three. Since map votes take like 50% of the people and since half the people voting seem to just hit 1 (which tends to be "Next Map") on accident, it's pretty rare you see another map besides those three.

I'm going to have to agree, there's only 3 maps that are really ever played. Avalanche, Kalt and Donner.

How about making it 30 min map rotation with a >50% rtv for a deviation from the list?

Just a thought.

I like the 45 minute to an hour map rotation. It'd also be cool to have a round win limit, maybe 5-7, maybe even 10. That way, if the teams are extremely lopsided skill-wise, there is a decent chance the teams will be split up on the map change.

Seeing how we are using the same plugins for DODS and TF2 I have also changed the map times to compensate. A map can be extended twice for 15 minutes max after that either an endmap vote must pass or the next map in the cycle will be loaded. This should make the server use more maps.
