this_game_is_hard 0 #1 Posted January 31, 2009 as title explains, pretty decent server but last week or so the troll population has exploded... group of like 4-6 guys who intentionally screw up rounds. 1. sit in spawn and do nothing but eat sandwich/screw off 2. intentionally sit on opposite teams and heal/uber spies 3. refuse to build anything but teleports on engineer 4. play some shitty wigger/gangsta battle rap dialogue spamming voice constantly 5. etc. etc. etc. can't voteban the people cuz they have like 3-4 so getting 80% is near impossible. i wouldn't waste my time posting on this if it wasn't a legitimate issue and having to watch up to 7 players sit out while a couple guys go throw a round (or don't even play) makes no sense. get some admins pls thx
Luminal 0 #2 Posted January 31, 2009 To be honest, I don't even think we have more than 2 full admins. But that's up to Mana.
emuzombie 0 #3 Posted January 31, 2009 As much as mana would hate me for saying this since it will empty out the server, best way I've found to combat this is just leave, eventually if everyone is gone and just the griefers left, they will get bored and move on. Then, later that night go back to the server and play. The way griefers work is this: Annoy everyone as much as you can. The more the better. If no one is there to annoy they become bored fast. The more you sit and yell at them or try to ban/kick them the more fun they have and the more they'll want to stick around. Another tactic is to just ignore them. Yes this is difficult on Arena mode when they are the only ones left alive in the spawn, but if you pretend they don't exist they will get bored too. On a side note, I hate griefing as much as anyone else, but sometimes it can be funny, especially if you are watching it as an observer. Such as on youtube. Fast forward to 6:45 for a great episode of the tf2 quiz show. edit: forgot the url, my bad

this_game_is_hard 0 #5 Posted January 31, 2009 well, ive been gaming for 7+ years and know what griefers are in general. team roomba is funny, old, and not relevant. this is 2-3 guys who have been routinely playing (mostly acting like douche bags) for months and now have introduced the server to additional friends. this isn't a 30 minute phenomenon that goes away. it's hours of the same 3-4 guys fucking around... going to 1 edge of the map and building a wall of engineer crap. if it continues for several weeks further... the server is gonna be a cess pool. imo, you have a server get some admins give admin to EoE-Your Favorite Motion Sensor, Horton Hits A Hoe, Jayskill, or some other sane people who are there for some good/chill games. thx for the feedback either way
this_game_is_hard 0 #6 Posted February 2, 2009 nvm, im just gonna stop playing on your server. dont sweat it. shit was ridiculous today and i cba to beg for some action. ty for supporting tf2 community general tho. gl.
Mana 3,867 #7 Posted February 4, 2009 nvm, im just gonna stop playing on your server. dont sweat it.shit was ridiculous today and i cba to beg for some action. ty for supporting tf2 community general tho. gl. And yet I still see no demos. When I play it's fine. None of the server regulars are sending me messages on steam either.. Oh and lets not forget. Voteban is there for a reason. It passed when it was set to 90%... It's a good idea to tell people what the vote is about first. I always vote no on a voteban if it just randomly pops up without anyone saying what the fuck it's about. Why should anyone else voteban someone on the other team if they have no idea as to what is going on?
