Cryolite 0 #1 Posted April 25, 2009 I was banned a few weeks ago for suspected use of an aimbot. The ban request thread against me is here. I didn't take screenshots of my console as per the appeal requirements thread partly because I didn't know I needed them but mainly because the kick crashed TF2. I posted what I thought was the main misunderstanding about the situation at the bottom of the above thread trying to spur discussion about the issue but it's been 2 days with no replies so I'd figure I'd just go ahead and post this appeal. The complaint against me I think was that I was making a lot of unscoped sniper rifle shots. To summarize my post in the ban request thread, Valve added a crosshair to the unscoped sniper rifle if you use custom crosshairs. I don't think it's any more spectacular to make unscoped shots than scoped shots when they both have crosshairs now. After watching that demo twice there's only one thing I can imagine would be questionable. Near the beginning of the demo in humiliation mode I turned around in the red spawn, pretty much 180 degrees, and shot a red scout. In my defense he was close and running straight towards me. Honestly I was a little surprised I got him since it was just a twitch reaction to shoot. To my knowledge if I had been using an aimbot, however, there would have been no intermediate 180 degree turn; instead of actually turning around, my field of view would have simply centered on the scout at the moment I fired with no intermediate turn. This did not occur at that time or at any other time in the video. I added a few of the Lotus servers to my favorites a while back since I ping pretty favorably to them. If you keep logs they'll probably show me playing on the servers quite a few times before this incident, and definitely more than as a sniper. I think that disqualifies me as someone who came to the servers hoping to bot for a few minutes getting a few dozen kills before getting banned.
