TerrawindX2 0 #1 Posted April 27, 2009 7 years ago, I played Battle Realms. I was 12, just entering into the RTS arena, and I found this game to be fantastic. One of my more favourite clans was the Serpent clan, and the real reason why I liked it is because of the number of heroes you can employ, compared to the Dragon Clan. Once you build a Keep, you can summon them all, and then watch the sparks fly. This thread will give a simple explanation on how to build your "army of heroes", which means you'll need no one else. Let's look at the Serpent's characters: You got Kenji level 3, shirtless, with a gun that is ironically more powerful than his sword (Perching Kenji on a tower is overkill). You got Shinja, the two-bladed swordsman. Nuff said. You got Budo, the fat, ugly, slow bastard who will slow the hero army down and reduce their stamina if you're not careful. The useless of the lot, but still a hero character. You got Utara (somehow it means North in Bahasa Melayu). I forgot who she was, it's been 7 years and I haven't gotten around to playing BR again yet... but still a hero. You got Vetkin, the effeminate male with weak but fast attacks and mad stamina, Then finally you got the Necromancer. He may not be a "hero" but more like a "summoned unit" as with the Dragon Clan's Dragon Deity, but still, you can control him, he acts like a normal unit, so he is counted as one. And he's got mad damage (except against the shadowlings) and one hit can severely wound a villager. And he can summon 3 ghosts too (Four if you use a bug, which I remember had something to do with saving, exiting, and reloading). I guess 4 ghosts can be counted. However, there are two extra heroes who aren't part of the Serpent Clan originally, but from the Dragon Clan. You got Otomo, the fat, dragon clan swordsman with awesome damage and a special skill that can empower your hero clan to their fullest advantage. (But as I recall he may have already left Serpent by the time you get Necromancer. Oh well, maybe a hack can "fix" this?) Then you get TAO, the extra hero whom you can employ while in the Monks stage. (Monks are better than Ninjas tenfold, so it's a win win, but a huge lost if you didn't find Tao in the Monk Level.) And from that stage you get up to 4 monks to battle with you. So let's look at the heroes army list: 8 Heroes, 4 ghosts, 4 monks. Without training any other units or armies, just send them into an enemy town heavily guarded by troops and leave it there. Enjoy the massacre. Put in a geisha if you're not sure if they will last. (As I recall Otomo would have left the Serpent clan before you got the Necromancer, so I guess its 7, but it will still do) Compare it to the Dragon Clan? A total waste. You have to choose either Arah or Garan at one point, your dragon deity can't even move and can only attack once, and if you want to get Tao, you have to settle for Ninjas. Who likes Ninjas in Battle Realms anyway?
