"patched/unpatched" Version

Question

Ok, I have been debating with myself as to which section in the forums I should post this topic, but after much contemplating, I guess this topic falls best under Technical Support, so here it goes. xD

I'd just like to ask what exactly you guys mean when you say "patched version" or "unpatched version"? I've been seeing a lot of this lately, and I'm not sure what version I currently have on my computer. I've also read in some posts about this certain complaint of players on a certain stage in the unpatched version where it's "almost impossible to beat the AI". Now I just got my Battle Realms WOTW game and am now re-playing the Serpent campaign. I'm currently having trouble finishing the stage where Otomo betrayed you and allied with the Wolf (Serpentholm 2). I have played this game years ago, finished it, and I don't remember this stage being this brutally hard. I was wondering, is this the part in the "unpatched version" where there had been complaints about an almost-impossible-to-beat AI? How do I know if what I have here is the patched or the unpatched version? (BTW, it was my brother who downloaded the game and I have no idea where he got it.) If this is the unpatched version I have here, then where can I download the patched version? xD And lastly, if I download the patched version, can I still load the scenes that I saved from the unpatched version, or do I have to repeat the game from the beginning? Sorry if I have too many questions, I'm really just confused. xD

WOTW is the fully patch version.

if you has WOTW you dont need any patch again until someone create it.

if you use BR you need it.
