cant push uber nub 3 #1 Posted August 18, 2009 Team Fortress 2 Water Particles Error? "Server is enforcing consistency for this file: particles/water_dx80.pcf" I have it again. Tried to: right click game properties local files verify and no dice Also have tried restarting steam and the game multiple times. Any suggestions before I try reinstall the game? * only happens on lotus servers. All other pubs work. Thanks guys
Spartan_0214 18 #2 Posted August 18, 2009 The server needs to be updated, technically your client is newer than the server atm. Since sv_pure = 1, it forces the particles to be the same file, but yours is updated and the servers is not. It sees that and says "Server is enforcing consistency for this file: particles/water_dx80.pcf"
Data 2 #3 Posted August 18, 2009 Do the Lotus servers only update once per night? Just curious how it works as this seems to happen every time we get a ninja update from Steam. Clearly not the fault of the servers, but just curious how often the servers get updated.

Mana 3,867 #5 Posted August 18, 2009 It should update on a map change, but the only sure way to update it is to manually restart it. Since Mana left no one to monitor the servers... I/my phone monitors the servers. Restarting does not update servers. Valve released a second update last night which they declined to announce or make mandatory. So a second manual update run was needed. Also Linux servers autoupdate themselves on map change (UK and West Coast) though optional updates are not automatic and have to be done manually. Windows SRCDS has no autoupdate (All Central and East Coast servers).
Spartan_0214 18 #6 Posted August 18, 2009 Wait. Linux auto-updates and Windows doesn't? Another reason that Linux kicks the pants off of Windows.
Mana 3,867 #7 Posted August 18, 2009 Wait. Linux auto-updates and Windows doesn't? Another reason that Linux kicks the pants off of Windows. No, just another way that Valve fails.
DeJaDeW 83 #8 Posted August 18, 2009 Wait. Linux auto-updates and Windows doesn't? Another reason that Linux kicks the pants off of Windows. Yeah! but some sourcemod plugins don't work properly with Linux servers.

Spartan_0214 18 #10 Posted August 21, 2009 (edited) Make sure your client is up to date. Apparently there was an update today. Since Mana's back I'll try to get him to fix it. Edited August 21, 2009 by Spartan_0214
Mana 3,867 #11 Posted August 21, 2009 Make sure your client is up to date. Apparently there was an update today. Since Mana's back I'll try to get him to fix it. Server was updated the moment the update went live. I get a text message when the update comes out, kinda hard to miss.
