I will say upfront that I use HLSS, but I don't abuse it. I want to make a case for HLSS and the ability to use it again. I won't doubt that there are people who use HLSS excessively (Smokin Hokie, anyone?), but I think it should be up to the players to decide it they want to hear someone use HLSS. If a server community (in my case, Stock Maps 4) decides they don't want to hear sounds at the time, then they can call a votemute; they aren't hard to do, and they get the message across. I know that I have provided many laughs with victory or defeat sounds, and some sounds that apply to anytime. If you think I am trying to skew opinion with this, then ask the other L4 regs, most all of whom have stated various times that they want sounds back.

So here is what I have been getting at: the community is more than capable of regulating the servers they usually play in. If someone is being a dick, they can be kicked or banned. If someone talks too much, they can be muted. If someone plays voice clips too much, they should be able to be muted. After all, is HLSS micspam all that different than voice micspam? Stopping micspam doesn't really weed out annoying players. Just the other day, some player did a spray of meatspin, and Lotus 4 has recently visited by a few dicks, and even a supposed hacker. Taking away HLSS just takes something fun from a lot of people, and only coddles those people who are dicks in other ways.

I think HLSS should be reinstated for a week, and if the players say it should stay, it should stay, and vice versa.

I'm a Stock Maps #4 regular, and a donator. I also am in favor of allowing HLSS. I can't think of any times on SM#4 it's been abused. We always have the ability for votemute/kick/ban if it were to ever be excessive. HLSS adds another dimension to the game of discussion and amusement. No reason to restrict the freedom of those who utilize the Lotus servers, especially with respect to something so insignificant.

Mana, please remove the HLSS block.

I agree as well. HLSS is a pleasant addition to the game. We can always votemute if someone is abusing it, just like how we votemute Zephyr all the time.

I love Hlss, despite me not using it, but I love to hear DAR's silly sounds and a few other regulars. It's a nice cheer up or bit of laughter for the game, and the majority of people who use it never abuse it. The very few people who do are muted, kicked, or banned almost instantly. It really should not be a problem.

I never liked listening to other peoples' craptactular tastes in music and it's an obnoxious hassle to votemute people for it every single damn time they do. It adds nothing to the game aside from yet another annoyance.

I also support lifting the hlss. I always enjoy listening to Mr. Welles' music on the arena server. If I don't like a what a person is playing through their mike, I just player mute. It's not that big of a deal to me.

So Mana have you read this yet? Melissia's tough act is getting old - I didn't start this thread to troll the members. I would like to know from you about why you disabled HLSS when people (at least the L4 regs) are more than capable of taking care of themselves. If the intent was to excise annoying people (which is good and all), why is it that players that are annoying in general can still roam free? bbs is a perfect example. No one in Lotus 4 likes playing with him. The regs' "micspam" is more accepted than douche players.

Really who doesn't love listening to the Pokemon theme while marauding a Sentry nest or receiving a Kritzkrieg to the last point as you spray weapons fire across the point crits gibing anyone who's foolish enough to trifle with someone with half a aim and a overheal. Or listening to the Scooby-Doo theme while you hold off a raid of 2 ubers one of which is a Demo the other a Heavy the memories of your childhood flowing back to you as you enjoy the games of NOW! If one is caught abusing such a gorgeous privilege. You can server votemute them. If that doesn't work, there is that handy Mute player button in the Escape menu that no one seems to know about. Just imagine sitting in your spawn charging your waiting, waiting for the coming battle as you taunt the foes outside your gates with Caramel Dansen piping in the background or maybe something else imagine! You sitting there preparing to jump on the enemies boat with I'M ON A BOAT playing. Just Imagine the fun, then when you either succeed or fail some funny sound to bring it home or lighten the pain of a dreaded lose.

HLSS should return renewed for all to hear!

Me, and me. I don't play these games to listen to some stupid childrens' show music (and before you ask, no, I'm not dissing childrens shows in general, just the obnoxious music associated with them).

I play these games in order to generally have a good time shooting people and being shot at. In order to charge at someone and chop their heads off, or blow them up with a rocket launcher. To stab someone in the back, or blow their head off. To activate that one crucial uber that completely and utterly crushes the enemy defense. to desperately fight off spies as I try and keep my sentry gun repaired under constant attack by the offensive team. And so on and so forth.

If you want to listen to that crap, go listen to it on your own computer rather than broadcasting it to everyone else. I'm certainly not going to start spamming Nightwish or Rhapsody of Fire or Jeremy Soule via HLSS despite all of these being far better music to listen to while playing TF2.

Again, you are pretending to know how everything works. Most spam in L4 is usually accepted and even requested. I know that any way that a group may have fun that isn't YOUR way may be completely foreign and unacceptable to you, but you don't even show yourself in L4. So how about this? How about instead of Mana reinstating HLSS in all Lotus servers (which I never explicitly stated in the first place), Mana just reinstates it in the ones that want it. That way some of you elitists over in 1 or 2 (honestly forgot which) can have your fun, and we can have our fun.
