Stocks 3 Uber Lag

Hi Mana,

Not sure if someone else already posted regarding this topic but for the past few days, Stocks 3 has been crashing/lagging every 15 mins or so. At least it feels like every 15 mins, maybe it's not exactly that precise, but nonetheless, the server is experiencing odd problems. Are you already aware and looking into the problem? If not, is there anything you can do to remedy the problem?

So since it's not crashing, what is happening exactly?

It's a lag thing. The whole server experiences a three second or so lag every 15 minutes. Well, my guess is about 15 minutes. I'm not so great at telling time mid fragfest.

Correct, it's not totally crashing, just having a weird disconnection (the little red letters/numbers pop-up on the upper right corner of my game) and then all of a sudden it reconnects again.

It's more of a severe graphics lag with the occasional server-wide connectivity problem (disconnection warning in top right).

The general FPS drop/graphics lag has been the most notable problem, but the occasional disconnect warnings may be connected.

It's usually between 7 and 10, I think (PST) but I've experienced it on full servers from 5-7 and 10-midnight, as well.

It happens on 2fort, but not as much.

I think it's largely just the number of people, as I almost never notice it when it's 8v8 or 10v10, but when it starts get over 10v10 you can get the danger. I know we just had a big lag spike that hit the whole Stocks 3 server yesterday at about 8PST (unless my memory is off on the time).

There haven't been any changes to this server in ages, so not sure why it was lagging.

Anyway I just recompiled the kernel with the latest version and did some other things, lets see if this helps.

There were some serious lag hitches/disconnect warnings on Stocks 3 yesterday (Sunday, April 25, 2010 - between 6 pm and 7:30 pm). Player counter varied from 26 to 30 during that time.

I played for, I think, about 30-45 minutes and the disconnect warning/server-wide lag freeze occurred three or four times.
