Unagodd 1 #1 Posted April 27, 2010 So, I've been playing Lotus for about a year or so - pretty much ever since the old spam-fest XFG servers I used to just 2fort on died and I resolved to stop being utterly nubsauce at the game. Since then, I have started to develop an interest in comp-style or comp play and what strikes me is that Lotus servers have the resources to bring in some former haters and make them at the very least less dismissive of what you guys provide. To that end, I'd like to throw a couple ideas out there. 1. Highlander Servers - Highlander is quickly growing in popularity among the lower echelon and comp-curious players, which as TF2Lobby has shown us is remarkably larger than a lot of people had previously seemed to think. Besides which, a quieter, less spam-tastic server might be a great thing for the regs and old hats who occasionally want to get together and play with more advanced game-play. Perhaps this could be a donator benefit? 2. Ammomod, BBall, or Jump Maps. Jump maps aren't that popular and the small number that are out there are almost exclusively surfed by pros and wanna-bes, but ammomod maps do have some popularity, they're just hard as crap to find. Same with Bball. Of course, that concept is based largely on my perception, not any well-grounded research. 3. Comp-style servers. Whether set up to be used by donators who want to set up a TF2Lobby or for donators who get permission to use it for scrims and matches and what-have-you, this could be an excellent source of revenue, as well as helping to overcome some of the vitriol towards Lotus from the "pro" community. Anyways, just a few ideas. Feel free to poop on them if you wish.
Melissia 7 #2 Posted April 27, 2010 Eww, comp-style servers. Keep it away from me, I don't want to catch the stupid... Regardless, we have problems trying to convince Mana to just add a server with both stock maps and a few good custom maps, nevermind entire new game modes? I doubt he'd go for it. Dashuu 11 #3 Posted April 27, 2010 If you were willing to donate, and/or found a group of donors willing to cover the cost of a new server, I doubt you'd have a problem convincing mana to host a new game type. Then again, if you found enough people willing to donate for a server, you could very well host one yourself.

Yea, I was hopeful last time Mana asked us to vote and see how many people would be interested in playing on a custom maps server. I think I'd go for that before a com style server any day.
