Ban Request - Dark Ninja

This player was on the West Coast 2Fort server around 10-11am PST today and I recorded a demo of him after I got suspicious when he Direct Hit me as a fully cloaked spy... Twice, both in different places of the map.

The player also goes by "[GMC] Trailblazer", as well as "Dark Ninja". Steam ID is: STEAM_0:0:28876242

Notable sections are:

1:10 - Goes around a corner and immediately shoots at a spy walking up the courtyard stairs towards the straight stairs down to the intel.

1:20 - Backtracks to go after a scout that he didn't see go that way (based on what I saw spectating from his perspective).

1:36 - Jumps into the courtyard and shoots at another scout in the long hall that hadn't even rounded the corner yet.

Also, early in the demo he makes reference in chat to some enemies in the spiral. Problem is that they weren't carrying the intel at that moment, and yet he knows that they were there, and even uses the plural "them" even though he couldn't know if it was one person or several.

And finally, you can see from the in-game text chat late in the demo that he seems a bit paranoid to assume that I'm spectating him, unless he's worried about being caught. Additionally, he seems to look around a lot at blank walls before deciding which way to go...

Other than that, I got nothin'... Thanks for reading and making a judgment call either way.

Wonderful request, you unlike some people followed it perfectly.

The demo however (he was using the rocket launcher, not direct hit.) showed some possible evidence and some that wasn't legitimate. At 1:20 the scout tried to loop back around and flank them, he saw it coming. However at 1:36 when he jumps down again, i cant confirm or deny that. And about the enemies in spiral, that is also true, the intel wasn't mobile, and he never went through there. But i only watched the demo i wasn't there.

I can vouch for Dark Ninja being an aimbot hacker, I watched him on spectate about 10 minutes ago. He just got votebanned on 24/7 2Fort West Coast at about 10:25pm. I was going to make a demo but everybody moved too quick to voteban him.

Thank you for posting this, however it seemed that he knew you were recording and if he was hacking, he was hiding it enough.

The spy looked legit to me, especially as a trigger happy soldier...

The first scene with the scout, I could of guessed that, playing enough you would know to respond to your team mates who the heavy that just walked around the corner did. You can see the heavy turn at the scout and he follows him into the hallway.

The friendly pyro looked like a wallhack but I can't jump to conclusions. I always spycheck like crazy and I shoot spots that I know spys like to cloak at.

If you can record another demo of this guy, i'll be more then happy to ban him. Or yell at me next time you see him ingame.

Hello everyone, nice to finally start to meet all of you. I am an on and off player of TF2, I play when I have time, but rarely since I have work and other things in life. It has come to my attention that my reputation as a player might be in jeopardy, so I finally decided to become a member of these forums so that I could at least defend myself.

I watched the videos, and I can honestly say that I didn't see one thing suspicious. Spies have certain traits that they follow, and certain things that they all do in common... especially on 2fort.

For example, spies hide in what I call hot-spots. It is my own definition for an area that they commonly hide. 2 of the main areas they hide on 2fort are out in the middle where the bridge is. They hide between the posts on the wall of the bridge, and they hide in the corners near the water on their side of the bridge. Out of all the hot-spots on 2fort, I see spies hide there the most... they usually camp there for awhile to let their cloak recharge, and to watch what is going on - especially so they can move across when it is safe to do so. I am not going to go in to an example of every single hot-spot or situation on 2fort or any other map, because I could be rambling on all night.

Spies emit a visual disturbance when they are moving on a cloak that is completely low and needs to be recharged. I do realize that there is a cloak that allows them to remain cloaked indefinitely - only a brief stop is needed to recharge and remain cloaked. Spies also count as matter in the game. What I mean by that is if I am walking, and then in thin air I cant more or I am briefly stopped by an invisible object, it is reasonable to conclude a cloaked spy is in front if you... and start firing. Spies also give out foot steps when they are walking even while cloaked. So if I hear footsteps going in a direction (i use headphones to help) I will start following... or I will even pause to listen. Also, if I am looking around and a team mate starts saying "there is a spy around here," I am going to start checking for spies... especially in hot-spots.

I realize these demos can be convincing, but not to an intelligent person. There are the players that run around and shoot aimlessly, and there are players that use their head and try to use strategy when playing a game. I implore you to watch me through my own eyes, rather than yours.

Spies can mean the difference of win/loss for one's team. I have spent so much time as an engineer repairing broken sentries because of spies coming in and ruining everything. Which is apart of the game. I try to be a team member by doing something that needs to be done - spy security. It can be a tedious job sometimes, finding nobody and firing into thin air.

One last thing I need to mention, is team coordination. One thing that his video didn't include was the microphone chatting I received while playing... another reason to record through my own eyes or spectator mode. Team mates can be very helpful in calling out what they see, what they hear, the last location of a spy, what the spy looked like, where they suspect a spy could be, etc. I use that as well in spy hunting.

I love the Lotus servers, they are ran very well. I look forward to playing with you all on the servers, and I invite you to watch me in spectator mode at any time. I have nothing to hide.

Gotta say, I'm disappointed this ban hasn't gone in yet.

Initially, I was the one who started the votebans on the 2Fort server, so I'm sorry to those who were trying to Demo it, I had forgotten that demoing had existed. However, I was spectating Dark Ninja for quite a long time before I initiated it, for definite proof. My first encounter with this was when he was an engineer, and very clearly pinpointing a 100% cloaked Cloak and Dagger spy, with roughly 25% charge left, without disruption on the outside pegs of the 2Fort Bridge. After that, he continued to fire at the people on the bridge. Next was as he continued to shoot cloaked spies, while still cloaked and around corners.

And today, I saw him as a heavy, jolting between targets rather quickly. The demo I have available is rather shaky, and not very well done, however I did catch him with quite clear Aimbot near the end of it. And even before, his cursor would shake rather madly when firing rapid fire weapons, like the minigun or pistol. Sadly, I don't know exactly where to load the demo up, but if I'm told of where to put it, then I will gladly upload it. As I said though, it's rather shaky(And actually the only Demo I've ever made)

As for the banning, people are ban happy and love to cry hacker when someone is clearly better than them. The problem is this, as I have said before, most players are retards. They are sometimes worse than the AI when it comes to playing because they are more predictable than the AI. There are specific spies I play against that only use the same spots over and over and over to hide and I keep killing them over and over and over and guess what, the idiot doesnt stop using the same spot. You have that with many of the classes but with spies its more pronounced and they are the first to cry hacker when they keep being killed for their mistakes.

So.. I was taking a look at his stats, nothing too out of wack there.

Equal time spread among the different classes.

3.79 Kill to Death ratio, a bit higher than the current average for Lotus servers but the player base is not as good as it used to be so that is not surprising.

31 kill streak is not bad and 7 death streak is about the norm.

The massive changes of names would kind of point to something fishy but some people just like changing their names, cant fault the guy on that.

His favorite weapon is the Minigun, comprising 52% of his kills.

Next favorite is Sniper Rifle, 15% though the 82% headshot accuracy is kind of suspicious. 125 head shots out of 155 kills

Then rocket launcher 10%

Overall he just might be a really good player and those who suck need to get better.

You take a look at his stats and decide he can't be hacking because of his KD ratio?? This is a wallhack, not an aimbot, you won't see a high KD ratio. What you will see, if you had watched my demo, is a guy chasing down cloaked spies and knowing exactly where they are. There are excellent players that find cloaked spies, but they search for them, this guy doesn't need to do that.

You are doing a disservice to this thread. Watch the new demo and make a judgement instead of defending a hacker based on his stats and blaming the 3 people on here that watched him on spectate.

When are hackers ever good? There is a reason why they are hacking in the first place: they sucked. Votebanning does mean something, I tried votebanning Darcor numerous times and they all failed. Which is why I started making demos, and it ultimately led to Darcor getting banned (see the Ban Request: Darcor thread for reference). Dark Ninja was so blatant that 80% of the people on there got rid of him. You weren't there, you don't know if the server was full of "dumb-asses".

The procedure here to ban somebody is to make a demo. I would think that the procedure to defend somebody is to watch a demo and make a call, not spout stats and blame the server being full of whining "dumb-asses" that lack skill.
