IceSage 58 #1 Posted August 12, 2010 I'm just curious. I've heard, and read via the console... That votebans are suppose to be 30 minutes long. However, I've read various testimonials from people on the forums, and have experienced myself... That votebans last 11 hours, not 30 minutes. Was this an intentional change, or some sort of glitch or server error? While I'm normally not concerned with it, as it's temporary, and I don't exactly get votebanned often... It is a pain in the ass when a bunch of jerks decide it'll be funny to voteban a person, only to have to wait 11 hours instead of 30 minutes. I'm all for letting them have their moment of lulz from abusing voteban, but not in the case where it's ending up being 11 hours instead of 30 minutes. I'd like any thoughts, opinions, or confirmation on how it's suppose to properly work... So I don't end up trying to re-connect to my favorite server after an hour only to find it not on the list. Krash 1,040 #2 Posted August 12, 2010 Ive heard people saying things like this about the CS:S servers, but TF2 is a guaranteed 30 minutes. Where were you playing?
Mana 3,867 #3 Posted August 12, 2010 Ive heard people saying things like this about the CS:S servers, but TF2 is a guaranteed 30 minutes. Where were you playing? No it's not. I keep saying it lasts longer than that. It says 30 mins on purpose so people would be more willing to post a ban request with a demo (if they made one) if they assume that the hacker will be back soon. And also so the person who got vote banned wouldn't know when exactly it will go away, if at all. The vote time is based on a few factors: the vote percentage, the moon's rotation, the timezone of web server storing the bans, etc.
