nhdjoseywales 0 #26 Posted September 4, 2010 Just 2 cents from a non involved party. Back in the day i used to play action quake 3 way more than was healthy. While spectating various people we started to suspect they were cheating with wall hacks and/or auto aims. We went out and found the wall hacks and glow skins ourselves and began to use them to spec and record demos of people. It was painfully obvious who was cheating and who wasnt. It was also depressing to realize cheating was that rampant. The wall hacks i am familiar with were able to be turned on and off at will so a demo from the accused is pretty meaningless. Also wall hacks and auto aims are not always being used concurrently, in some cases the auto aim doesnt work very well and the wall hack is all you need, so there may not be any jitter to the camera view when watching a wall hacker, and the hacker may still be a horrible shot and miss a lot. If the wall textures are clear, the hacker may not be able to tell exactly where the player he is watching is, this really comes down to the hacker knowing the map well enough to judge depth and positioning. The easiest way to spot the hacker is they follow players that they should not be able to see, if that is happening regularly you probably have a wallhacker. Also as stated in another thread, the timing of the shots are a little different because the wall hacker is shooting in anticipation of a player rounding a corner or emerging from behind an obstacle, not reacting to the newly emerged player. Sometimes it is difficult to be sure the player is cheating unless you are viewing the demo with the hacks installed, then you can more easily see the hacker shooting at people who were about to emerge into view but for whatever reason suddenly stopped. Without the hack it just looks like he shot at nothing or was hoping someone was coming around the corner, with the hack you see what he had intended to shoot and that they changed course or stopped at the last second. I do not feel it is true that any good player will look like he is cheating if viewed with hacks on, the behavior is not the same. Non hackers watch things they can see, they dont stare at walls and watch people that arent visible. I have not wtched the demos of 007 nor do i care to, i am only replying because there seem to be some people who either dont understand how hacking works or who deliberately post misinformation in an attempt to cloud the truth.
