Lemon Jelly 26 #1 Posted October 1, 2010 What you guys think of the new update? What are some of your new favorite features? Favorite new weapon? Things you dislike?
Krome 1 #2 Posted October 1, 2010 I like it. I bought one of those gift bundles and used it on West Coast Payload, sucks it's only good for 23 players on the server, but we know Valve dislikes 32 slot servers. that's pretty much the only server I play on, and it's a good group of people for the most part, so I thought I'd show some love. one of the gifts was even a Medic mask. SatansDankWeed 2 #3 Posted October 1, 2010 i love every tf2 update, its what keeps me playing. i was just starting to get sick of tf2 and the demo spam but now there is a short break from the spam and new ITEMS. yay! well i have only tried the new soldier stuff and i like it def rockets are the same just a little slower and they still do splash dmg AND they give you 15 hp AWESOMENESS new banner is alright, its something different at least
Mana 3,867 #4 Posted October 1, 2010 I don't like it that we now have to buy items. Like the key to unlock the crate which drops randomly. I also don't like how there's no milestones for the new items . Even though I crafted pretty much all of them (traded some away for hats ) Also, prices in the Shirtless Rapist's* store are outrageous. *Or is he a pedophile? SatansDankWeed 2 #5 Posted October 1, 2010 ik buying tf2 items is a sad story and a day that i never could imagine when i first started playing tf2.
Oww My Nose 19 #6 Posted October 1, 2010 GOTTA BUY THEM ALL Not a bad update though.
Beer(Beer) 2 #7 Posted October 1, 2010 GOTTA BUY THEM ALL Not a bad update though. I'm kind of torn about buying stuff in-game as it diminishes the qualities of obtaining them through gameplay, but on the other hand, I ended up buying some stuff so who am I to judge . I like the new stuff a lot. The fish is the best thing ever . Anyone know if they put in more acheivements to go along with this stuff? You know, like "Sushi Salad." Kill 50 people with the Mackeral, haha.
kuttlewug 28 #8 Posted October 1, 2010 I like the update. I don't think I'd buy anything unless I felt I couldn't live without it but that's not likely. Yeah I never would have imagined all this when I first started playing.
Paul Bunyan 13 #9 Posted October 2, 2010 When you get an in-game store, it's only the start of many, many bad things.
Tappy 8 #10 Posted October 2, 2010 Sure you have the ability to purchase the items but don't forget that you can still obtain them the old fashioned way either crafting or hoping to get it on a random drop... So it's not like you are being forced to buy ALL items... If you don't want to buy a key trade the crate to someone for items so you can get either a hat or items to craft towards a random hat or something. Krash 1,040 #11 Posted October 2, 2010 The only good thing about the store is that you cant trade the hats/items you buy. Hats were fun because they were rare. Now you can get the best hat for 10, Towering Pillar, and get the AWESOME ONES like the sombrero for 20. And yea having to buy that key is bullshit. kammy 2 #12 Posted October 3, 2010 I don't mind the store since it won't affect me now cuz I won't use it. But I do have a bad feeling about how it will affect me down the road.
cool catz 2 #13 Posted October 4, 2010 "it stinks" although I personally think the crates are outrageously fun; even if they give you dumb items sometimes. more than anything, I enjoy the SEXUAL THRILL I get from opening them.
Areola 0 #14 Posted October 5, 2010 I like the new items, and the chance of the crates... but for the love of god... purchasing keys? That being said, I'll be trading crates as I get them...
Machine That Goes Bonk 0 #15 Posted October 7, 2010 I like the new items, and the chance of the crates... but for the love of god... purchasing keys? That being said, I'll be trading crates as I get them... I like being able to trade items finally. I like some of the new items. The ability to purchase items just makes the game feel like Gaia Online or some such like that. Also, I think it's bull that they added the trading the same time they added the store. And @(*&@#(* buying supply crate keys.
ReconPWN 10 #16 Posted October 9, 2010 The store makes it so that someone....lets say a "new comer" can buy a superior weapon compared to someone who has more experience and time on the game. I'm not saying that the store items are superior...well some but you get the point that I'm making is that you can buy a weapon versus actually earning it over time and gameplay. But that is just my personal opinion, not to mention that I don't even follow what I say considering the fact that I did buy some stuff from the store. Quaalude Horror 0 #17 Posted October 9, 2010 New fish. First Post. I'm sort of up in the air over the whole store thing. Sure, TF2 isn't like Battlefield Heroes where you have to spend a lot of money just to get decent gear. You buy it outright, and that was one of the things I liked about it. Now they throw in a store and offer exclusive kit and I'm supposed to pay now? I don't think anything being offered is really outrageously powerful (when I Pyro I still use the old torch instead of the Backburner, so newer isn't always better), but it does seem to indicate that Valve thinks they should be making ongoing revenues from TF2. If that's the case, though, they should offer revenue sharing to groups (like Lotus Clan, of course) who run their servers. After all, what would TF2 be if there weren't any server hosts? At least it could go into covering server operations costs, and maybe even foster growth. My $0.02, ~QH

Late to the thread here (just registered tonight) but that was awesome of you, man. I think $100+ was blown on Secret Saxton that night. It was epic. (I'm so broke now...) Team3VIL 0 #19 Posted October 24, 2010 I really enjoy it. I'm happy we are finally able to actually trade items I got the 50 dollar bundle on the first day of the update. I recently just found paint, but the only hats it lets me use it on are the Ghastly Gibus and the Mann Co hat. So I'm not planning on wasting it. I wanted to use it on the Safe N Sound
Machine That Goes Bonk 0 #20 Posted November 5, 2010 I finally got my first hat drop a few weeks ago and it was one of the new hats. The heavy umbrella on his head thing. :D
EasyKill 1 #21 Posted November 8, 2010 While I understand people's objections to spending money online to play a game, and to the slippery slope that could potentially come from that idea, I think it's important that people try to remember that valve has been updating TF2 with amazing content tirelessly for the years that it's been out, and once a person has purchased their original copy of TF2, that was all the money any of us ever spent until now. So, from a business perspective, they're spending all this money developing new weapons and hats and maps and all this other cool stuff that we as regular players practically demand, and there's no repeat customers whatsoever. All the money they ever made from working constantly, diligently and consistently to improve the gameplay for people like us, was from noobs buying the game off the shelf. The fact that everything available from the valve store can make no discernible impact on people who'd rather not spend the money -- outside of having to trade crates away instead of buying keys -- is more than enough, in my opinion, to afford valve the opportunity to provide the people with "expendable income" something to give back.
