TheMightyCrow! 0 #1 Posted March 1, 2011 I pretty much just joined the forums to say how much the auto-balance feature on the DoD:S servers suck and should be disabled. Or at least reconfigured. I've been switched like 6 times in one minute by it. I'm not the only one that has said it's horrible.

Hopefully it will work better until more changes are made. Yes it will be updated in the near future. It should not be switching the same person back and forth that often. The DODS plugins are about a year out of date compared to our TF2 versions. I never really wanted to update (without good reason) because of how stable that server is. But if they don't get updated there will be issues. For example there's no autobalance enforcing on DODS right now. This means once you get autobalanced you shouldn't be able to join back for 5 minutes or so. We've had this for quite a while on all of our TF2 servers. Works pretty good. There's also quite a few updates to our admin/user loader which makes it more reliable and a bunch of other smaller things.
TheMightyCrow! 0 #3 Posted March 1, 2011 In the meantime I changed the plugin to a different one. Hopefully it will work better until more changes are made. Many thanks! Will try it out very soon. EDIT: Much better! I was only switched once in-game, and couldn't notice anyone else being bothered. Thanks.
Panda 7 #4 Posted April 1, 2011 The server should probably switch the last to join. Not one of the top 3 players.
Worm 0 #5 Posted April 2, 2011 I agree with panda lowest ranking player or last to join should be switched first, BUT donating keeps you from getting switched right???
Gotcha 6,307 #6 Posted April 2, 2011 (edited) I heartly disagree with that. What's the point of an auto-balance if the last player that joined gets balanced? If a team is behind, losing all the time, it's much wiser to switch a high ranked player over to balance it out. Shoving random newcomers into the losing team will probably solve nothing in balance. Mana 3,867 #8 Posted April 2, 2011 They tend to just go back to the other team when possible. Not a problem on our TF2 servers thanks to autobalance enforcer. Should probably add this to DODS as well. It's been a great success in TF2.
Worm 0 #9 Posted April 3, 2011 (edited) That is an excellent point gotcha if it is merely a numbers issue then I think it should be last player switched HOWEVER if one team is DEMOLISHING the other team then its a player skill issue. Better players tend to overrun not-so-talented players. I can't say how to make a better balance other than both teams consist of talented and not-so-talented players. NOBODY likes to be on a losing team, It's all about balance and enjoyable gaming! **Oh and mad props to you mana for running a great server*** Edited April 3, 2011 by Worm
